Hi everyone,
I was back at Ludham Bridge today, watching the Sunday chaos of lots of boats.
I can’t believe the Wherry went past again after yesterday. Such a majestic sight. Albion is 123 years old.

The boat which was side swiped belongs to me. My boat is frequently damaged by other boat users. Do you report these incidents please or merely film them for others amusement?

Lots of people on KZbin film at Ludham Bridge. A simple search on KZbin will bring all the videos up. I film there once a week and simply film what is in front of me. With so many boats on the water, incidents will occur. If you look through the comments, no one is laughing at what takes place, if anything it’s the complete opposite. If I owned a boat and it was damaged, I would be pleased it had been captured on film as then there’s no dispute of how it happened. Thanks for watching 🛥⛵️

Thank you for your reply, alas the video quality is such that the relevant details are illegible. If I witness anyone else's property being damaged I do what I can to report it, I would like to think that there are others which do the same, although I realise that it is the exception rather than the rule.

@@debbyfulcher8847 the early impact at 3:25 in was Emerald Light, it is always a dilemma for witnesses, it is difficult from a distance to judge whether there was damage. Unfortunately of course many boat users are more used to cars which steer accurately from the front unlike boats which steer badly from the rear. Unfortunately a mooring on the outside of a bend like this is vulnerable to this type of error. I trust the boat was not damaged. If you watch this video on a biggish screen the boats are mostly identifiable. This channel is not one that glorifies the boating "bumps" just a celebration of the beauty of the Broads.

Why fish on mooring
@Peter-nv3wu
@Peter-nv3wu 3 жыл бұрын
I used to fish rivers and canals when I was younger. Number 1: if you fish on a mooring it stands to reason that boats may want to moor where you are fishing ! Number 2: As a fisherman you have to pay for a licence, but the boat owner has to pay to use the waterway's and that's far more than any fisherman pays for a licence ! BTW I don't have a boat (at the moment) I personally feel the fisherman should have moved when he saw the boat approaching, not good I know but something you have to accept when you fish on a mooring. No doubt there be people who will disagree with me, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
@NewnameSameme
@NewnameSameme 3 жыл бұрын
Actually, where he was fishing , there are no mooring posts. It’s only along the straight bit that there are. I think the boat struggled as it was windy and the tide was taking him towards the bridge. He got there eventually though and the fisherman was ok too. 😀 Thanks for watching and supporting my channel.

We missed you at Ludham on Sunday. Crossed the bridge in a car on the way from Wroxham to Potter Heigham to hire an electric day boat for 4 hours of peaceful cruising and a picnic stop at Horsey Mill. It was warm and the sun came out. The Wherry's use the outboard powered boats for travel through confined areas and bridges. Much easier and safer then using quant pole !!. Thanks for a great video.

Lots of excitement going on there. Richardson's Challenger gets another look in. It is a big boat (45') and not very easy to manoeuvre. Albion shows how it is done with the mast takedown and under the bridge with no slowdown, wonderful to see. So yes, some chaos and moored boats being whacked, and the school holidays are yet to come😂

I never knew how busy the water got there in the summer . That fisherman at the beginning . He wasn't going to move his rod for anyone ! That wherry got it's mast down in some style . I think they may have done that before , interesting topping lift on it . I have never seen that done like that before . But there is a old usage about boating , "it's so easy to make a fool of yourself " . Things do tend to go pear shaped very quickly ! 😉

Another amazing video:) Any time I’m away from the broads watching these gives me my boat fix for the day. Do you think these boating mishaps are due to boat yards not giving enough training or down to the individual?
@NewnameSameme
@NewnameSameme 3 жыл бұрын
That’s such a kind thing to say, thank you. I’m glad you enjoy them. As for the boats and mishaps, I’m not sure what the problem is. Probably a combination of many factors. Possibly some cruisers are just too big. I don’t own a boat, so I’m not really in a position to say as I’ve no experience. Just as an outsider, to me, some boats look too big. Having said that though, some of the big ones do look spectacular.

I think more training, advice is needed, especially if it's your first time. Also I think people need to slow down, we went last year and it was so much busier then previous years but it seemed like everyone was in a hurry, massive cruisers not keeping their distance bumping the back of us, at times it was like the m25 in rush hour, the boards use to be a chill out holiday.... Maybe more rangers on the river would help 🤷‍♀️.

Inexperienced skippers, boats with no keel, underpowered engines compared to length and weight of vessel, wind strength, tide strength and busy recreational waterways. On public moorings fishermen must yield to boats intending to moor. Having said that most hire boaters havent got a clue what they're doing and problems occure. Clearly that fishermen interfered with the boat buy forcibly pushing the boat's stern out, which believe it or not could be conceived as maritime crime. Fishermen and boaters don't make good bed fellows in my experience but they both deserve each other for their attitude to each other. Courtesy and assistance makes for a better broads boating experience........I live in hope.
