When Gandalf uses the Black Speech in Rivendell he's reciting the first part of the Ring Verse, which is what's actually engraved on the One Ring, while you can hear Sauron in the background reciting the second part along with him, with Sauron chuckling at the end This is one of my favorite parts of the first movie

@@Sakrosankt-Bierstube There are many things that come and go, or have been around for many years, but it’s very likely many people haven’t seen many things yet. Just as people have different tastes and are individual, I don’t exactly watch reaction videos for what the reactor adds to the movies. The elven language you liked from Arwen is Sindarin (which is inspired by Welsh). One of many elven languages. The other main one is Quenya (inspired by Finnish), also called High Elvish and originally spoken by the elves in Aman, the Noldor, Teleri and Vanyar. The elves are not all united, there are different ethnicities, languages and cultures and kingdoms all with varying degrees of relatedness.

Quenya was manly banned in Doriath after a very horrifying event of the kinslaying heard about by Elu Thingol(Elwë)what was done by a certain group of Ñoldorin elves. He actually created this world around the various fantasy languages he invented, even crafted the various alphabets each race has. To him language was an integral aspect of the design of the races.

To clarify things about Elrond & his daughter Arwen and therefore we must look at Elrond’s Twin Brother Elros, they both were half-elven brothers who can choose to be mortal or immortal because of their parents(Eärendil and Elwing) both half elven made a great sacrifice and went to Valinor to ask for help which lead to the greatest events in the early first and second age. Instead of being punished, the valar listened to them, that led to a great hosts of Valar and Maiar And Vanyar Elves went to Middle Earth that laid waste to Beleriand. After the War Of Wrath, the valar rewarded them for their sacrifices. They can choose to be elf or men, including their children. They chose immortally, but never return to Middle Earth because they thought that their twin sons had died. But they didnt die. Elrond chose to be immortal while his twin brother Elros chose to be mortal. He founded the Kingdom of Numenor. He lived in Numenor Island and blessed with a long life that include his descendants Those men who fought for the war were rewarded a long life but not their families or children. Only the family of Elrond can choose to be immortal or mortal in which Arwen did. Aragorn is the direct descendant of Elros, thats why he has a long life. The average lifespan of a Numenorean at their height was a few thousand years maximum! Now remember too that half elves are a common thing and whenever they did come together it was always significant !❤❤❤ Remember this is the SHORT version, there are so many moving parts that will make you want to dive into the books or the audio books or even do reaction videos to the famous lore videos by the biggest lore channels out there! When you’re done the trilogy try doing reaction videos just like Moviejoob did now with the lore recently as well as OmarioRPG. I recommend videos by GirlNextGondor and The Red Book, and Tolkien Untangled and especially Men Of The West. Many other cool ones I’ll recommend in the comments section of those reaction videos you do from Tolkiens Legendarium lore videos. They are super engaging. You’ll be in love. Nothing would have existed if Tolkiens works never hit the light of day as they were meant to stay private and sometimes be shared with his children and so on. No Game Of Thrones. No Skyrim. No ElderScrolls, No World Of Warcraft, no Dungeons&Dragons. None of it. Not even Star Wars. Not even Harry Potter! They took inspiration from his works which were souly to give back a forgotten history of the Anglo Saxons that had their culture & history destroyed as the larger empires were riding around them. His works reflect the Elder Edda(Norse) The Kalevala(Finnish) and the Welsh people from Wales as well as Irelands cultures of the Tuatha De Danaan as well! His languages are fully fleshed out too resembling Finnish & Welsh • By the way Elrond is around 6870-8000 years old AND nearly a full Elf year (as they age very very differently to Men) is close to 144 man years (solar years for them) they experience the TIME and the way men experience it but their clock is different! They live as long as the world/Arda/Ëa does. Essentially. Which is why they are so I synch with the world around them and the nature responds to them ! Think of when Legolas walked ontop of all that snow on the Mountain of Caradhras!! They continue to endure as long ad the world itself does. (Arda) Galadriel's Phial is something really special. light & dark have a spiritual dimension in Tolkien. way back before the First Age Valinor was lit by two very special Trees that waxed & waned in opposition to each other. a master craftsman Elf named Feanor fashioned three gems that captured their light, the Silmarils. everyone who saw them was captivated by them, even the Valar & Morgoth the first Dark Lord. wars were fought over them called the Kinstrife. after Morgoth had the Trees destroyed the Silmarils were the only light from them left. they changed hands a few times & eventually one was left after one fell into the sea & another was lost in a pit of magma. a Half Elf named Eärendil (the first one!) came into its possession & sailed it to Valinor as a gift to the Valar to ask for their help in defeating Morgoth, which they did. the Valar turned it into a star & hung it in the sky with Earendil as its guardian. the fountain of Galadriel's Mirror is lit by light captured from the star Eärendil & her Phial has water from the fount. I've left out about 90% of the story but it's quite important & central to the story of Middle Earth. for her to give the Phial to Frodo is quite extraordinary. its light does burn & blind Shelob (that's the spider's name) but doesn't kill her outright. oh also, before he was put in the sky to guard the last Silmaril Earendil had two children, Elrond & his brother Elros the first King of Numenor. Tolkien's lore is deep & vast & the Silmarils are at the center of it. Add a comment.. The Star of Eärendil is the light that shines in the horizon both in the morning and the evening. It consists in a boat raised by the Valar and led by Eärendil, who carries a shining Silmaril while watching the Doors of Night. The Door of Night was a portal in the distant Uttermost West that leads to heaven, and/or the Void. Eärendil's ship Vingilot was taken by the Valar from the rim of the world, passed through the Door and was lifted into the "oceans of heaven". PS: Eärendil is ELROND’s half Vanyar Elf father. His father was the great Tuor of the great stories of The Children Of Húrin!❤❤❤❤

Jesus, this is ONLY the 2nd part of the FIRST movie. Now WHY would you want to dump all that information on her at this point in her journey ??? First off, she'll never remember all of it and second, it's rude to give away so many secrets before she's even had a chance to really get into the story. It's obvious you want to feel important, but I think you assume too much about her wants and desires. Show a little restraint, mam and then, give her some time and space to absorb a little bit of the world before you inundate her with trivia. This sh*t should have been dropped on her at the END of the trilogy, not ANYWHERE along the way.

What's Bilbo doing in Rivendell???!!! After he literally disappeared from his 111th birthday party, and walked out of his underhill home, Gandalf told Frodo "He's gone to live with the elves." No mystery. The evil of the ring lingers, for sure; why Bilbo's face deforms when Frodo denies him one last wearing.

The Gandalf vs Balrog fight is not just a wizard vs a monster, it is literally an angel vs a demon. Others have probably already explained how Gandalf is actually an angelic spirit called a Maia who chose to adopt human form (along with 5 others, one of whom was Saruman). Balrogs were fallen and corrupted lesser Maia, so literally demons according to traditional Christian theology, and since Tolkien was a Catholic, that's perfectly fitting.

Meanwhile everything screams he’s a Odin Figure. Heck. Children Of Hùrin is an exact almost word for word story from one of the Kalevala oral tradition songs of which there are many!!! He never wanted to insert the religion into things as he was well travelled and studied in many things. So he wanted to give back to his motherland the snippets of culture and folklore from Celtic, Germanic, Welsh, Irish and Finnish roots to restore a dying culture and connection and respect for what came before and it’s elders. Giving back to England for the Anglo Saxons who had their culture destroyed by the rising empires of the era around them… he’s so beloved that when he makes edits to the dictionaries they all listen and follow suit with a hat tilt! He is a co author of them too

@@Makkaru112 Tolkien outright said Gandalf was a "heavenly messenger" and in the Unfinished Tales, there is an acccount of how about how he was chosen and sent by Manwe. The story from this trilogy is so in depth because Tolkien worked on the details of this world for the majority of his entire life. Then, Peter Jackson treated it as if he had been given the privilege to make a documentary about real events instead of treating it like cheap fiction.

Elrond and his brother Elros were twins and children of human-elven couple. At the end of the First Age the Valar ( "angels" of this world) gave to the Half-elven an irrevocable choice to which kindred they would belong. Elrond chose to be of Elven-kind, and became a master of wisdom. To him therefore was granted the same grace as to those of the High Elves that still lingered in Middle-earth: that when weary at last of the mortal lands they could take ship from the Grey Havens and pass into the Uttermost West; and this grace continued after the change of the world. But to the children of Elrond a choice was also appointed: to pass with him from the circles of the world; or if they remained to become mortal and die in Middle-earth. For Elrond, therefore, all chances of the War of the Ring were fraught with sorrow :(

You have done a wonderful review of this story and your reaction I can tell is heartfelt. Peter Jackson did a wonderful job of taking the story of The Lord of the Rings and putting it into film but we must remember that the heart and soul of this story came from JRR Tolkien. This story comes from his very life and the hardships he went through and the faith in God he held on to through all of it. At the age of 2, he lost his father leaving his mother penniless. His mother raised him to trust in God and then she died when he was only 12 leaving him and his brother orphans. A kindly Catholic priest took them in and sent them to the finest school in Birmingham. It was at this time he discovered the love of languages and began to create what would become the languages of Middle-earth. He had a group of friends from school who would meet and review each other's stories. Then World War I came and he and his friends enlisted in the army. He lost all but 2 of his friends in the trenches of France and it was here where he began to write what would become The Lord of the Rings many years later. He was sent back to England from the War as he had become very ill from being in the trenches. Edith, who became his wife nursed him back to health, and through it all, he never blamed God for his pain. He married Edith and they had 4 children and was a wonderful husband and father. He became a professor of languages at Oxford. He wrote the Hobbit in 1937 which was intended for his children but his friends at Oxford encouraged him to have it published and so he did and was an instant success. He was later asked to write a sequel to the Hobbit which he did in the 1950s and so was published as The Lord of the Rings. He never liked the fame it brought him, he just wanted a quiet life with his wife and children.

I’m glad you noticed the significant look that was on Gandalf’s face when he heard Frodo volunteer that he would take the ring. I always love that moment. If you listen to the commentary track for the movie, the actor who plays Gandalf was reacting as if he had heard his son say that he was joining the army and heading off to war. It was supposed to be a look that conveyed resignation, a pride that he would volunteer like that, but also sorrow in knowing that the consequences of this act would likely be pretty bleak for the ring bearer. I also love that moment between Gandalf and Frodo, in the mines where they are having that conversation after Frodo noticed that Gollum was following them. One of the many gems of wisdom that you get from this story, and there are many, is that conversation. I love how Gandalf tells Frodo that Bilbo’s act of pity and mercy was so important. And how people are to quick to proclaim judgment on others. Keep those words of wisdom in mind as you watch the final two movies.

Enjoying your reaction! LOTR explores a number of important moral concepts like Friendship, Duty, and Honor. Another such concept that is touched on in the movies but is more important in the book is Fate and its workings. In the movie, the Council of Elrond was actively called forth by Elrond, but in the book the different parties (Dwarves, Boromir, Frodo, etc.) had all seemingly arrived simultaneously at Rivendell by chance. Elrond says, "The Ring! What shall we do with the Ring?...That is the doom that we must deem. That is the purpose for which you are called hither. Called, I say, though I have not called you to me, strangers from distant lands. You have come and are here met, in this very nick of time, by chance as it may seem. Yet it is not so. Believe rather that it is so ordered that we, who sit here, and none others, must now find counsel for the peril of the world."

Tiny irk from movie: Boromir reacts to Aragorn by talking as if some "Aragorn" was known to be the Lost King of Gondor. But in the book, neither Boromir nor any of his people would know any heir of Isildur exists 3,000 years later, and the name Aragorn would mean nothing to him. These were well-guarded secrets, and took some explaining in the council. (In the full lore, Aragorn, who's older than he looks, had decades before gone to Gondor and proven himself a hero. But did so under an alias, and then disappeared like some mysterious cowboy saving the town and riding off into the sunset. Boromir would've been a kid or not even born yet.)

The first thingGandalf says ad the Doors Of Durin (At Moria) he says is: “Annon edhellen, edro hi ammen!” This means “Elvish door, now open for [us].”The next thing he says is: “Fennas Nogothrim, lasto beth lammen." (Doorway of the Dwarf-folk, listen to the word of my tongue.) A little later he says: "Ando Eldarinwa… a lasta quettanya, Fenda Casarinwa…" (Gate of Elves… listen to my word, Threshold of Dwarves…) Arwen defeats the Ringwraiths after crossing the river, the words she speaks in that scene translate into English thus: “Waters of the Misty Mountains, hear the word of power, rush, waters of Bruinen (Loudwater), against the Ringwraiths!” Quenya/Sindarin Elvish words of power that Arwen Spoke; (Nîn o Chithaeglir lasto beth daer; rimmo nín Bruinen dan in Ulaer!) Arwen also says “lasto beth lammen” when speaking to the Ford of Bruinen and commanding the waters to rise

The Tower bit is explained ONLY in the Unfinished Tales Book: In [manuscript] C The Black Riders arrived at the Gate of Isengard while Gandalf was still a prisoner in the tower. In this account, Saruman, in fear and despair, and perceiving the full horror of service to Mordor, resolved suddenly to yield to Gandalf, and to beg for his pardon and help. Temporizing at the Gate, he admitted that he had Gandalf within, and said that he would go and try to discover what he knew; if that were unavailing, he would deliver Gandalf up to them. Then Saruman hastened to the summit of Orthanc - and found Gandalf gone. Away south against the setting moon he saw a great Eagle flying towards Edoras. See, the thing is he was always master of studying the enemy and even being able to think like they do to always know exactly the best ways to handle ever situation and so on, but the thing is he didn't just become the enemy, he at this time in a sense for once actually grew afraid of him, probably Sauron did what Sauron did with Finrod Felagund(Galadriel’s elder brother who by the way was very important in the legendarium) which basically widdled Saruman with various visions of the past and future until it wore him down.

Gandalf’s power is both restricted by himself as well as it is from Eru Îlluvatar (TheOne, The AllFather) the Istari are perfectly capable of "uncloaking" and Gandalf does so (or threatens to do so) on a number of occasions in the books. The Istari essay in Unfinished Tales sets out the scope of the "Rules" under which they operated: their emissaries were forbidden to reveal themselves in forms of majesty, or to seek to rule the wills of Men and Elves by open display of power, but coming in shapes weak and humble were bidden to advise and persuade Men and Elves to good, and to seek to unite in love and understanding all those whom Sauron, should he come again, would endeavour to dominate and corrupt. What's important to note here is that this is not a restriction on level or degree of power. There is precisely one limitation in which the Istari may not use power, and that is to "rule the wills of Men and Elves"; aside from that the Istari may use power to battle evil, accomplish magical feats, etc. I used the word "uncloaked" above, and that was directly lifted from LotR, where Bilbo initially refuses to leave the Ring behind: 'It will be my turn to get angry soon. If you say that again, I shall. Then you will see Gandalf the Grey uncloaked.' He took a step towards the hobbit, and he seemed to grow tall and menacing; his shadow filled the little room. Let's also look at Gandalf during his fight against the wolves before the Fellowship enter Moria: In the wavering firelight Gandalf seemed suddenly to grow: he rose up, a great menacing shape like the monument of some ancient king of stone set upon a hill. Stooping like a cloud, he lifted a burning branch and strode to meet the wolves. They gave back before him. High in the air he tossed the blazing brand. It flared with a sudden white radiance like lightning; and his voice rolled like thunder.

Here is one of the songs that relates to Moria and Durin The Deathless: The world was young, the mountains green No stain yet on the Moon was seen. No words were laid on stream or stone When Durin woke and walked alone. He named the nameless hills and dells He drank from yet untasted wells. He stooped and looked in Mirrormere And saw a crown of stars appear. As gems upon a silver thread Above the shadow of his head. The world is grey, the mountains old The forge's fire is ashen-cold. No harp is wrung, no hammer falls The darkness dwells in Durin's halls The shadow lies upon his tomb. In Moria, in Khazad-dûm But still the sunken stars appear In dark and windless Mirrormere There lies his crown in water deep. Til' Durin wakes again from sleep Full version: The world was young, the mountains green, No stain yet on the Moon was seen, No words were laid on stream or stone When Durin woke and walked alone. He named the nameless hills and dells; He drank from yet untasted wells; He stooped and looked in Mirrormere, And saw a crown of stars appear, As gems upon a silver thread, Above the shadow of his head. The world was fair, the mountains tall, In Elder Days before the fall Of mighty kings in Nargothrond And Gondolin, who now beyond The Western Seas have passed away: The world was fair in Durin's Day. A king he was on carven throne In many-pillared halls of stone With golden roof and silver floor, And runes of power upon the door. The light of sun and star and moon In shining lamps of crystal hewn Undimmed by cloud or shade of night There shone for ever fair and bright. There hammer on the anvil smote, There chisel clove, and graver wrote; There forged was blade, and bound was hilt; The delver mined, the mason built. There beryl, pearl, and opal pale, And metal wrought like fishes' mail, Buckler and corslet, axe and sword, And shining spears were laid in hoard. Unwearied then were Durin's folk; Beneath the mountains music woke: The harpers harped, the minstrels sang, And at the gates the trumpets rang. The world is grey, the mountains old, The forge's fire is ashen-cold; No harp is wrung, no hammer falls: The darkness dwells in Durin's halls; The shadow lies upon his tomb In Moria, in Khazad-dûm. But still the sunken stars appear In dark and windless Mirrormere; There lies his crown in water deep, Till Durin wakes again from sleep.

There was a huge example of Tolkiens vast languages at the mountain scene between Gandalf and Saruman, I'll give you the quotes with english translation! : Saruman: "Cuiva nwalca Carnirasse; nai yarvaxea rasselya!" (Wake up cruel Redhorn! May your horn be bloodstained!) Gandalf: "Losto Caradhras, sedho, hodo, nuitho i 'ruith!" (Sleep, Caradhras, be still, lie still, hold your wrath!) Saruman: "Cuiva nwalca Carnirasse; Nai yarvaxea rasselya; taltuva notto-carinnar!" (Wake up cruel Redhorn! May your bloodstained horn fall upon enemy heads!) Let's be glad Gandalf did what he did because it might have been more disastrous for the fellowship if he hadn't countered the spell.. but it was more or less putting nature back into a more harmonious state.. as it's symbiotic with those like the elves as well as those of the Istari the wizards as they are very special before taking the form of elderly Mannish forms.

Elrond is "master of healing" hehe. Aragorn in book says that Elrond as one of the Peredhil and him being distantly related to that line, says of the healing gift: "When he had looked on the faces of the sick and seen their hurts he sighed. 'Here I must put forth all such power and skill as is given to me,' he said. 'Would that Elrond were here, for he is the eldest of all our race, and has the greater power" Elrond had extensive knowledge when it comes to healing: "'Good!' said Gandalf. 'It is mending fast. You will soon be sound again. Elrond has cured you: he has tended you for days, ever since you were brought in.' 'Days?' said Frodo. 'Well, four nights and three days, to be exact. [...] Elrond is a master of healing, but the weapons of our Enemy are deadly. To tell you the truth, I had very little hope; for I suspected that there was some fragment of the blade still in the closed wound. But it could not be found until last night. Then Elrond removed a splinter. It was deeply buried, and it was working inwards.' Frodo shuddered, remembering the cruel knife with notched blade that had vanished in Strider's hands. 'Don't be alarmed!' said Gandalf. 'It is gone now. It has been melted.'" Then there are obviously other writings: "There are indeed some differences between the natural inclinations of neri and nissi, and other differences that have been established by custom (varying in place and in time, and in the several races of the Eldar). For instance, the arts of healing, and all that touches on the care of the body, are among all the Eldar most practised by the nissi; whereas it was the elven-men who bore arms at need. And the Eldar deemed that the dealing of death, even when lawful or under necessity, diminished the power of healing, and that the virtue of the nissi in this matter was due rather to their abstaining from hunting or war than to any special power that went with their womanhood. Indeed in dire straits or desperate defence, the nissi fought valiantly, and there was less difference in strength and speed between elven-men and elven-women that had not borne child than is seen among mortals. On the other hand many elven-men were great healers and skilled in the lore of living bodies, though such men abstained from hunting, and went not to war until the last need.~ •Books used below to form this below: (Of the Laws and Customs Among the Eldar, Morgoth's Ring) •

When encountering the black speech of the darkest dark lords in existence, elves are thought to suffer, because it reminds them of their history and their painful past, of Celebrimbor being tricked by Sauron into crafting all 16 rings of power meant for the elves but ultimately Sauron as he was now named by the elves meaning "Deceiver" which later on for hundreds of years of him attacking their realms constantly and Celebrimbor was stuck and held high on a horrendously evil pike of Mordor upon one of their marches against the elves which was quite horrific in itself, and reminds them of the loss of the gift of the Valar. Some things indicated that the elves feel physical pain and ailment when they hear Black Speech because it's a warping of elvish languages so in it's own right it's got a unholy effect on the world itself. ♥ I don't think I ever thought that the effect of Gandalf's use of Black Speech was something he intentionally produced. It always seemed to me to be inherent to the speech itself, that the language of Mordor cannot be spoken without damaging the person who speaks it and those who hear it. This might explain why Gandalf only dared speak it in Rivendell, which is protected by water and Elrond’s ring (and Glorfindel!); even so, the wizard famous for the beauty of his fireworks now has a voice “harsh as stone” and seems to cast a shadow over the sun. Having recently re-read the Ainulindale, I think I see a parallel to the effect of Melkor's music: "many that sang nigh him grew despondent, and their thought was disturbed and their music faltered; but some began to attuned their music to his... it was loud, and vain, and endlessly repeated; and it had little harmony, but rather a clamorous unison as of many trumpets braying upon a few notes." Would the language devised by Sauron carry the echo of that music? Do the Elves feel the discord in the language, even apart from the meaning of the words, and feel the potential for damage to their very being if, as Gandalf says, "that tongue" becomes the language of Middle-earth? They are, after all, the Quendi - those who speak - and would be especially sensitive to ugly, evil language. And while I have always naturally heard the ‘ash nazg’ version in the same cadence as the English translation, I tried speaking it Melkor style: every syllable given the same stress. It is very hard to do this - I kept having to call to mind the scene from The Mummy where a bunch of Egyptians are intoning “Im-ho-tep” as they slowly march through the streets. I don’t actually think that’s what Tolkien had in mind, but it was an interesting experiment.

it's said that Rivendell is “the Last Homely House west of the Mountains”, and in LotR Frodo calls it “the Last Homely House east of the Sea.” So, basically, Rivendell is the Last Homely House between the Grey Havens and the Misty Mountains. Rivendell was located at the edge of a narrow gorge of the Bruinen River, but well hidden in the moorlands and foothills of the Misty Mountains. Pine-trees grew on the top of the valley, and there was a "steep zig-zag path" to the valley bottom. The vegetation in the valley bottom was mostly oak and beech. Imladris (“deep dale of the cleft“ in Sindarin) is also called Rivendell, which is the English translation of its Westron name ”Karningul“ (a Westron translation of Imladris.) It was also very self sufficient in such a way that not many places really were anymore as well as a fully functional fortress! Plus, the path to Rivendell was a fortress in and of itself. It wasn't just sitting out in the middle of a forest. They had to spelunk through some serious underground tunnels to get there in the films of a different set of films bringing the legendarium to life thankfully by Peter Jackson team and co all over again, The Hobbit.

I preface the prologue & war, other depictions I LOVE, captured the themes WELL, the vibe of the whole trilogy! they nerffed The significance of the duel between Elendil(not some random old bloke in armour. This man was MIGHTY and gleaming with power which you’ll find out in the great videos you’ll soon react to with joy! He and Gil Galad battled Sauron and slayed his physical body and both died in the process. GilGalad was held high by the face for all free peoples to see as he then incinerated his bodily form to a crisp of ash! Isildur was part of the fight too but not as prominently and he just comes up to the body to cut the ring finger off and…. So one example is how easily Sauron is killed in the intro. He's set up as this super powered badass, but all you have to do is cut off his finger? That's not how it went down in the book, where the greatest man king and the greatest elf king had to double-team Sauron to strike down his body, but were killed in the effort (Isildur then cuts the ring from the corpse).

Wherever you are in life, you are supposed to be. The troubles and harm only come when you force yourself to go beyond, to push past where you ought to be to where you shouldn’t be or be yet. I think of it like racing down on a highway because you think you have to be somewhere when you you think you should be there. When all along you were where you were supposed to be all along. You are where you are for a reason, even if you may never understand why. You are also who you are and what you are for a reason beyond your full understanding. Trying to change or deny that and you may bring untold harm to yourself and/or others.

One of the Nazgûl was actually female and her name was Adunåphel. Adunåphel The Sorceress. The Seventh Nazgul. Princess of Forastar in Numenor, lady Adunåphel was born in the year 1823 of the Second Age in the city of Armenelos, daughter of Initildun, prince and commander of the king’s fleet; from an early age she was distinguished from her companions by a sharp mind and a beauty similar to that of elven women: growing up, Adunåphel refined her talents, and numerous Men asked her hand, seduced by her charm and her will to steel. Adunåphel, however, disdained such proposals, not considering them to be up to her reputation. She feared death very much and never forgot the sufferings that her elderly father had suffered during the slow agony that had led to his death, caused by his mad desire to abjure death itself, persisting in his mortal body. There was little affection between the lady of Forastar and her mother, who supported the cause of the Eldar and was opposed to the king’s party, to which her daughter adhered enthusiastically: at the court of the sovereign she met Prince Atanamir, and her heart was filled with passion towards him, considering him superior to those he had rejected in the past; great was her anger when the Heir to the throne rejected her and she swore on her father’s memory that she would get the prince’s head. In 1914 S. A., Adunåphel abandoned Numenor to found a colony in Middle-earth and subdue its inhabitants; for a long time she traveled west, until she found herself in the lands of Variags, where she imposed her law: for some years the kingdom of Ard the Vain, as she called herself, expanded its borders to the east and south, until , tired of having to pay tribute to her king, she took the opportunity to declare her independence. Atanamir, meanwhile becoming ruler of Numenor, decreed her death sentence and she fled to the East, while her kingdom was occupied by the armies of Numenor. Anger and wrath broke out in her heart and long wandered in the deserts of Khand, until the day she was captured by a tribe of Variags, whose lord made her their favorite slave; she was patient until she seduced her master’s guards and was not sure she had learned the arts of the sword and the spear. After a year Adunåphel with the keenness of her cunning and skill; slaughtered the king of the Variags in his sleep and proclaimed himself queen of that people: Sauron then heard of the lady of Numenor and summoned her to Mordor, promising her revenge against the warriors of Atanamir. Adunåphel accepted the Dark Lord’s offer and received the Seventh Ring of Men, swearing eternal loyalty to her master, in the 2004 year of the Second Age. Over the next thousand years, the Nazgul lived in the capital of his empire, which in the elven language was called Minas Gulwen (Tower of the Witch Maiden), plotting the fall of Numenor; in the year 3277 Sauron sent her to Umbar, where she seduced the lieutenant of Ar-Pharazon, so that the influence of the Fallen Maia spread to the port. Erfea Morluin visited the stronghold of Adunåphel two years later and defeated its servants with the help of the elven prince Morwin: furious, Adunåphel then confronted the two warriors and would have won victory, if at that moment the Sun had not risen in all her might (HerBeingArienTheMaia) humiliating her black spirit. After Atalante, the armies of Adunåphel took the city of Minas Ithil and headed for Osgiliath, being severely defeated during the first siege: later, she was close to achieving her goal, when the armies of the other Ulairis arrived and Gondor seemed to collapse; however, the arrival of the Alliance forces upset her plans and she fell back to Dagorlad, where she was defeated again. In the last years of the siege she participated with the other Nazgul in the defense of Barad-Dur, falling into oblivion when Sauron SEEMS to have fallen for the first time long ago.

I haven’t read all the comments, so forgive me if this has already been explained, but Tolkien believed that only people who didn’t want to rule should be given positions of power. So Aragorn says he does not want to be king, which makes him exceptionally qualified for the job, lol.

"You know I knew somebody would have to go ..." Here is a tip: whenever you see SEAN BEAN on the cast ... expect him to DIE. This is one of the "truths" of movies.

Just something to consider - the theatrical version might be better for a first time viewing. It's still 3 hours long, but it cuts out the stuff that isn't directly related to the main story, so you might find it easier to watch. I think all the extra stuff can be confusing and overwhelming to first timers. Either way, I hope you enjoy the experience.
