In case you're wondering, that one player who was almost tricked into shooting the Queen was baseball legend Reggie Jackson. He had retired as a player after the 1987 season, and actually did play five years with the Angels during the 80s.

The Naked Gun movies are based on a canceled TV show called, Police Squad in 1982 and Leslie Neilsen was the star of the show. But the show was canceled after a few episodes were aired, but that didn't stop Leslie from acting in parody movies. Naked gun series are movies that I watched so many times in my childhood. Funny that Jane said she watched the third one first, I saw 2 and a half first. The comedy is insanely good, but I also like that it has a well told base story you can follow. I mean I care that Frank and Jane end up together. The movies follow a simple but effective formula when in the beginning we establish the characters and motivations, then we introduce the villain and investigate him and they have a big finale where the villain has some crazy plan that Frank has to stop. Also the filmography is great and often parodies common tropes used at the time.

The 'Naked Gun' was based on the TV show 'Police Squad' which aired in the early 1980's but only ran for 6 episodes before it was canceled. It was made by the same people that made 'Airplane' and 'The Naked Gun' movies and starred Leslie Nielsen and it was hysterical. Unfortunately for me I remember seeing the commercials for it on TV when it aired but I never watched it until a couple of years after I saw 'The Naked Gun' in the theater. This trilogy is based of the TV show Police Squad hence the name. It was a short lived but one of the best comedy shows ever made. You should check it out their are only 6 episodes. Most of the jokes are taken from the TV show. They recycled all the remaining material from Police Squad and turned into the Naked Gun Trilogy after the show was cancelled. I highly recommend watching Airplane! the movie that kicked off Lesley Nelson's comedy career. Plus did or holed the most jokes in a movie. I believe their is a joke every 10 seconds or so. The pure genius of Lesley Nelson is still unmatched to this day. He is very much sadly missed. God I love these films so much, pure gold and never would be made today which is very sad.
