Watching Your Own Device in a Marriott Hotel

Directions for plugging your own device into a tv at a Marriott hotel. Using their media box did not work for me. It did not recognize my fire TV stick. Instead I plugged directly into the tv’s hdmi 1. The trick was to disconnect the media box completely from the tv and then unplug and replug in the tv. On power on it would respond to volume and input changes. The tv is at 100% volume when the media box is plugged in.
When I was done I disconnected my equipment and plugged in the media box. Power cycled the tv again and it was back to normal.
