SHINee is a ballad powerhouse. As good as they are at other genres they are even better at ballads. Their ballads are typically B sides. This holds true for them as soloists as well. Onew's "O (Circle)" is the title track from his solo Circle album, which came out in March 2023. It's his fourth solo album overall after his solo debut in 2018 with his Voice album, then his follow up album Dice in 2022 and his Japanese solo album Life Goes On also in 2022. In one of Onew's behind the scenes videos he explained his "O (Circle)" MV is depicting the different stages of a person's heart. The "Children's Park" -- or, as I like to think of it, the set of a children's TV show -- is supposed to represent the happy, playful child's heart. The peach tent area that we see him sitting in is supposed to represent the inside of a whale's stomach, depicting the story of his previous B-side song "In the Whale," which is a song he wrote for fans and is on his previous Dice album. And the dark grey set is supposed to be a mature adult's heart, depicting what a person has to go through in order to reach adulthood, etc. The album and song is called "Circle" because it represents the circle of life and how everything is connected like the changing of seasons. Onew was involved in all aspects of everything to do with this album, including songwriting, multiple rounds of recording, mixing and mastering, and album design and style, etc. In one interview he said, with this album he wanted to "broaden the spectrum" of his music and he considered it a "stepping stone" for his future work. The "O (Circle)" MV was directed by the same director, who directed SHINee's "The Feeling" MV, so you may have noticed that they have a similar feeling and aesthetic. And, as always, Onew is a member of SHINee, so none of his songs or albums will ever be the same. Everything he releases is meant to be something completely new and fresh that we have never heard or seen from him before. Of course, he is an amazing singer and performer. That's why the members of SHINee are some of the most well-respected singers and artists, and why they are one of the top groups in the industry. SHINee are the golden standard. It's literally known as the SHINee standard, and it's what all other groups strive to reach. Onew is considered one of the premiere vocalists in the industry, who is known for being the male vocalist with the most consistent vocals. He is one of the vocalists that vocal coaches use as an example of what people should try to emulate in order to become a great singer. He has been one of SHINee's main vocalists since debut and he is recognized as one of the top vocalists in Kpop since even before debut. Onew was only one of two people ever personally cast by Lee SooMan, the founder of SM, and he was chosen at age 16/17 for his outstanding vocal ability. Onew's vocals are so good that as a rookie he was even a vocal coach and mentor to a lot of SM's trainees, including several members of EXO.

I know I sound super biased, but Circle is my favorite album of all SHINee solos, I still listen to the whole album. Every song is just so good...or it could be just Onew's voice, but the album as a whole is such a good listen when you are on your morning walk. For Jonghyun, for me I would recommend Shinin' or Crazy.

You should definitely react to SHINee's rendition of Dear Name (originally a melancholic ballad by IU). They sing it in front of IU in her show IU's Palette and IU does an amazing cover of SHINee's Sherlock. Onew's voice there is just so majestic and gorgeous and the rest of SHINee as well. I love IU's version so much but SHINee's Dear Name is just so raw, heartwreching and beautiful. Thanks to IU for making that song that we got to hear SHINee (and specefically Onew) sing it.

If you like ballad, you can listen to “rainy blue“, is a Japanese song. You can also listen to “Nessun Dorma”. Circle is actually more suitable for listening to the whole album together. he can try different types of styles, because no matter how the song changes, everything will return to the original point

I completely understand the difficulty of choosing or assuming a bias in SHINee!! Don't worry, it's strictly normal to have the entire group as a bias 😅 For me Circle is a perfect song and album, really, I've never seen such an incredible album from a solo artist (although Taemin is my favorite soloist)! ! I highly recommend DICE to see a more fun side of Onew and Blue to see a more melancholic and operatic side! Speaking of opera, please react to Onew singing Nessum Dorma!! For suggestions from Jonghyun solo, Crazy and She is the MVs I like the most, however, Jonghyun shines a lot in more “calm” songs like Lonely and End of Day. Minho doesn't have many solo songs, he released his first mini album in December last year, however, the album is very good! Chase and Heartbreak are definitely the best options to react! @@WatchingSundays as always I recommend caution with From Now On as well as Diamond Sky - from their 2018 concerts. They are hard to watch, the boys are grieving. I do not think they should not be watched at all, far from it (and both From Now On and Diamond Sky are actually two of my favorite SHINee songs, Diamond Sky probably THE most favorite). But I also think new Shawols should know that watching those - if you know a little bit about SHINee - is painful, does hurt.
