I have to say, the idea of giving the players permission to look up info on the internet about various real-world topics and people related to the in-game case is a really nice touch. I also appreciate the idea of a game that's legacy-like, in that it's really designed to be played through once from start to finish, but doesn't actually destroy or ruin anything in the box preventing it from being played again should someone wish to do so.

Then you'll be pleased to hear that the board game industry has been growing for the past several years - so not dying at all. Exploding, actually. Hobby board games alone with up 22% in 2016, and cards and collectibles were up similar amounts. Europe is reporting similar numbers. That said, of course individuals will have to decide what they do or don't like in their games, I just thought you'd be happy to hear that the hobby is actually doing really well, even in this digital age.

That is not new for me. Im a boardgame author and passionate Boardgameplayer since more than 30 years with a big boardgamecollection and im following many streamer like you for a long time. Thats not what i was talking about. My problem is just that its so very hard to find people that would play boardgames with me. Its just my wife, my brothers and me playing boardgames in the circle of friends. Hundreds of people are playing the greatest new boardgames with us only in exceptionalcases about two or three times a year. But if i wanna find someone playing the newest videogame with i allways find a group of people in every age that will join that videogame the very first day i was asking and play it with me the whole evening and night. And those people are neighbours, so it would be easy to join us. But no: Boardgames are allways kind of "looks nice, one day ill try" and videogames are "WOW AWESOME IM ADDICTED RIGHT NOW!". Just my personal experience with people. I work in Kindergarden and even there its all about Smartphones, videogames and stuff. This world is loosing its culture and you cannot convince me off the opposite just by telling me the boardgame industry is growing. The question is here why did it take so long before it found a market for that. But this is another topic... Anyways thanks for your response and sorry for my bad english.

That's really hard to say - I think it's going to be so dependent on the group, and everyone's interest and investment. You know what I mean? Question: Have you re-played a game after failing the first time? Did you return the future lead cards from other cases back into the original deck to fully "reset" the deck? Hey Rodney, how is the replayability of this game? After solving the first case, can it be played again with a different outcome? And how is the tone for the crimes being committed? Is it more like the butler in the bathroom with the rubber ducky or Se7en?
@WatchItPlayed4 жыл бұрын
Hey James, it's been awhile since I shot this, but I think the answer to your first question is in the video. As for the tone. I haven't played all the cases, but I'd say it's somewhere between the two example you listed. They aren't goofy cases, but they aren't head in the box type either. Probably heavier than what you'd want to throw at your average kid?
@Veaseify4 жыл бұрын
The first 2 cases feel like a regular cold case being investigated but from case 3 onwards you get into a way bigger scenario that takes a lot of deduction and note taking to fathom out. There is zero replayability because each case only has one perfect solution.

Thank you for an excellent explanation as usual. I just got this game and ordered the 6th case offered also, as downloadable demo. "Suburbia". Is it a good idea to play the demo case at first to get to learn the game in a better manner? Is this 6th case also connected with previous cases? It may seem that way, but in practice, it may be much less than you're imagining. Very little of the 3-4 hours of the game is spent pouring over a device. Most time is spent in reading cards and discussion between the players, taking notes, etc. That said, I don't know what your personal threshold is for 'a lot', so it's tough to say.

This is surprisingly fiddly and the app implementation seems quite bad.

Which aspect of the website was difficult to use when you were playing? We didn't come across any bugs when we were playing (but that said, I haven't played through every case yet).

Watch It Played these three letter shorthands about stress level and the ability for players to make typos and whatnot. It's clunky.

Thanks, I was curious. Glad the video was able to help you to assess whether or not it would be a good fit for your tastes. Cheers.
