You mentioned the other investigators having special abilities. Were those something that you could have used?

When Paula is talking about this, she says the other investigators come with special tokens (not abilities) - and the tokens she can use. For the full rules on how to play, you'll want to check our tutorial video for Detective on the details. Enjoy the case!

For me it was all in the gun. Wifey knowing exactly what it was vs Mr NBA not having a clue was a huge red flag that she's trying to throw sus on him, as if she's trying to throw sus away from herself.

So what are the consultants for? Unless I missed something, I don't think Paula used them at all?

We cover the full rules of the game in the tutorial - when you have fewer than the full compliment of players, you gain consultants, which just provide you with extra tokens. This is a demo mission, so it's a shorter case, and using tokens wasn't as central to the case. In the main cases that come in the box, you'd find yourself using more of the tokens you gain from consultants.

Interesting case, the choices seem tough and you have to prioritise- really wanted to investigate the scene though and you just ran out of time. I would've done that first! Only thing that seemed disappointing were the "specialists". They give you tokens but otherwise are their powers weak and just situational or did you forget to use them... umm I mean didn't need them! :)
