Being a Mexican and a butterfly lover, and after playing many times and loving Wingspan, I was sure that we were going to like the game and we did but I have a couple of doubts and I hope you can help us: 1. The way we see it, it is not necessary to go all the way up to Canada, so, can one stay in the middle of USA and hatch generations 4s to be able to be back in Michoacán? 2. Can we hatch generations 4 even we still have generations 3 left outside of the board? 3. Can we bring generations 4 back already in Summer or do we have to wait until it is Fall? I do appreciate your answers and thanks for your incredible explanations in your videos.

I have a question on the rule right below the chart in the rulebook. It's says for each subsequent gen 4 butterfly score an additional 2 points. Can someone elaborate??
@WatchItPlayed4 жыл бұрын
That means if you are scoring more monarchs than the chat goes up to, than each extra monarch you brought back to Mexico gives you 2 extra points. Hope that helps.
@OwithB4 жыл бұрын
@@WatchItPlayed Hummmm. Wouldn’t you count the other gen 4 butterflies you have on the board that hadn’t returned to Michoacán? What would be the point of breeding your butterflies to gen 4 then? Plus there are only 4 gen 4 butterflies for each player in the game.
@WatchItPlayed4 жыл бұрын
@@OwithB For that scoring chart, you only count generation 4 butterflies you get back to Michoacán. Regarding your question about only having 4 generation 4 butterflies: remember, the generation 4 butterflies are double sided, and one side count as "two" butterflies, so you could technically have a total of 8 4th generation butterflies.

The store had focused mostly on collectible items (models and statues). They are shifting to mostly games and so I want to support them. The store I had been using has really been messing up lately, and the last few times I was there they were downright rude. This new place is a pretty far piece away, but one good thing about a pandemic, the streets of Austin are not impassible anymore. Hey Melisa, if your landing space is next to a milkweed symbol, the butterfly that landed there may immediately reproduce, but note that the word "landing" is key here. Your newly-hatched butterfly has not "landed" anywhere yet, so it cannot reproduce.

So is it mandatory to move the amount of spaces that a card says to move, or can you move fewer spaces? In example, if you play the card that allows you to move five spaces land once, do you HAVE to move all five spaces, or could you move three spaces and land once?

Are you allowed to level up a generation 2 butterfly to a 3 while you still had a generation 1 on the board that could be leveled up to a generation 2 (and you had the generation 2 in your hand). I would want to do this, wanting to just let the game level me up to the 2 as a freebie at the end of the round instead of having to spend tokens to do it while at the same time being to level up other butterflies to the more valuable higher levels. Or... are you only allowed to level up sequentially, using up all butterflies of that number before moving up to the next number.

@WatchItPlayed4 жыл бұрын
Nope, only after your move.
@kristencameron7474 жыл бұрын
2 questions. Can you play the green cards that you acquire with the extra moves every season or is it once per game? 2nd question in the fall season there is a bonus to collect 4 points for every 5 flowers are you allowed to do this more than once, for example if you had 10 flowers could you collect 8 points? One other question if you are moving 2 different butterflies on the same turn can you collect 2 of the same flowers.
@WatchItPlayed4 жыл бұрын
1) The green cards are only played once per game. 2) I prefer not to get into card specific effects as that's more than I can manage across all the games I feature, but you'll find details about the scoring cards on page 12 of the rule book. 3) Yes.

Excellent video as always. I do think there might be slight rules error though. At 6:15 you mentioned that a butterfly cannot get a token from any space another butterfly started it's turn on but the example in the rulebook (pg.9) does exactly that. They send a newly hatched butterfly from one space to the space another butterfly started their turn on.
@WatchItPlayed4 жыл бұрын
A very good catch Loic. I should have stated the rule as "a butterfly can't collect a flower token from the space IT started on, or from any space that ANY of its butterflies already collected from that turn." Played for the first time last night....got some of the bonus card actions wrong, so thanks for the clarification! Question....we know the double butterflies count as two in Michoacán at the end of the game, but do they count as two butterflies as they are moving across the board? With double butterflies, do you get two flowers on a single flower space, and four on a double space? And at the end of the game, if they are not in Michoacán, do they score as two butterflies, or only as a single token?
@WatchItPlayed4 жыл бұрын
Good questions Annie! It counts as 2 for scoring purposes only - so in Mexico at the end, or for the season cards. However, you only collect 1 flower token from a space when you land on it with them.
@anniechrietzberg18194 жыл бұрын
Watch It Played thanks for your answers! One more clarification....what about when you are tallying points for the butterflies not in Mexico at the end of the game? Does ‘subsequent generation 4 butterfly’ only mean the double butterfly side of the token?

Watch It Played or did we misunderstand that all together and you only get points for butterflies that made it back to Michoacán?
