I know it's scripted this way or whatever, but it really gives a sense of "here is a beloved game from my collection I'd like to introduce you to" instead of perhaps "this is a game that only exists for me to make a video about." Not that you ever convey the latter, but seeing it among your collection before looking at it in detail makes me feel like you're invested enough in the game to have it there, which makes me want to try to get into the game even more.

What a great video. Played this last week with friends but admit I didn't get it totally. Thought it would be a good one to play with the kids so ordered it. Got back well late last night from our heroquest night and was , at midnight, trying to teach it to my youngest. I was flailing a bit as couldn't quite remember how everything worked so kept having to refer to the booklet which is annoying and makes for slow gameplay. You explained it so clearly I think another couple of watches and run through and we will all be clear on exactly how it all works bit the kid had fun so yay.

Great video, I have a question about the green chip. In the second phase, when you need to evaluate the "last chip" or the "next-to-the last chip," do they count as chips? or do they count as the spaces that these chips occupied? Like the minute 9:36 example, if the last green chip is a 2 value chip, it means that this chip will occupy the 9 space in the pot, leaving a blank space between the 1 value green chip and the 2 value green chip, so we can apply the same effect to gain the two rubies, or this blank space is interfering with the "next-to-the last chip" order. I hope I made myself clear, thanks for the help!
@WatchItPlayed Жыл бұрын
I'm not completely sure I understand your question, but let me try answering this way: you do not worry about spaces between your last and next-to last chip. The effect is only concerned with "the last two chips" in your pot, even if there are spaces between them.

Great vid Rodney. This is the first how to play in which I felt comfortable enough just to play without reading the manual. I like to be thorough. And in regards to any shirt comments, you ware whatever you want ;) Oh... almost forgot... why stop before explaining the other side of the board? Looks like it would have taken you an extra 15seconds. Not a complaint... but as a guy trying to grow a channel himself, I’m curious.
@WatchItPlayed6 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed! I want the videos to be comprehensive, but also as concise as possible. I don't tend to cover things that people won't see in their first few plays. My feeling is that those extras will need to be re-learned at the time someone decides to try to play them, so teaching something that is likely to be forgotten by that time feels less helpful. Some people will be curios of course, but thankfully all these companies put their rules online for free, so they are easy enough to look up if a person is invested enough in knowing.
@BoardGameCoffee6 жыл бұрын
Watch It Played That’s fair. I’ve only done like 4 how to plays so far (rising sun being my best one so far) so I appreciate the advice. Rodney, quick question when it comes to expansions. I have The Herb Witches expansion and since it doesnt have any extra fortune cards to add and/or replace, we came across a situation where we drew the one that says all players can upgrade a colored ingredient to the next highest level. Other parts of the herb witches will mention it doesnt include pumpkins (since herb's introduces a 6), but with original fortune deck there won't be this disclaimer. Would you say this turns into a "house rule" and agree to allow (or possibly not) an upgrade from a 1 pumpkin to a 6 pumpkin if this ever gets drawn again? Just wondering what you would do? (by the way, it was my wife, son, and I playing, and we allowed it since it was an easy way to get a pumpkin 6 in the first round being the first card we drew! what a game changer)
