I use a impact socket hammered on to remove weird lock nuts, THEN I put the socket in a vice and use a air chizel to punch out the old nuts. Another trick is to put a wheel stud or bolt in a vice, thread on the socket/nut combo and run the impact on the opposite direction to get the nut loose

#1 Don't use impact tools with extractors of any kind.... #2 You have to hammer that type of extractor to get it to bite. #3 put your 7/8 socket in a vise and use a punch to knock the lugnut out..... Lol
@etiennegignac3 жыл бұрын
Just use a punch through the square drive of the socket to punch the nut out. I do it all the time. You can put the edge of the socket on a flat surface to be able to bang on it. Or both side in a vise. Easy peasy.

Once u beat a socket on the lock easiest way to get it out is to use a hammer and beat on the side of the socket it will usally give enough to let it slide out One edit I usally use a non impact sockets while taking off locks thinner wall is easier to beat on as well as off

You can put an extension on that socket with the stuck lug inside, heat the socket a little and hold the extension down with your hand or foot while you take a sledge hammer to the socket. Give it several tries and it will eventually come out. I removed stuck lugs daily for 11 years and not once did I ever use a welder.

I did the PFADT Johnny O’Connel shocks and adjustable sway bars on mine and they were worth every penny. You can also bolt the whole C6 Z06 brakes on, 6 piston fronts and 4 piston rears for the C5 with the only caveat being wheels that have the right offset.

On getting those lugnuts out of that socket, use your press, stack that facing down on top of a short section of pipe, to let the nut fall through, and use the press to drive a piece of hardened steel rod down through the 1/2" drive opening to force the lugnut down and out. I used this with a bench vice and took those exact lugnuts off a Dakota. They Suuuuuck.

Use a shop press to press the lug out of the socket-- just need a punch that will fit inside it and a bench vice clamped into the press to hold the socket. Usually when I have to resort to doing that I run and buy a couple of the right size "throw away" sockets vs using my good ones.

The last time I needed to remove wheel locks without the key I had to use every 12 point 1/2 inch drive 16mm socket I could scrounge up to remove 4 rims. I hammered them on and was only able to get one out of four sockets without destroying the socket.

Probably been mentioned but torch them out if you don’t care about the wheels. If you did care, pack the area with synthetic PTFE grease like Super Lube or Volvo pn#1161681- the grease will scorch but protect the rim. But will burn and stud will be fine. For future reference I suppose
