I learned by doing as well and we do the best that we can do. Having made my mistakes like brake calipers installed upside-down aka right caliper on the driver side & vice-versa the bleeder screws were not the highest point. Spent the summer of 2000 trying to figure why my car wouldnt stop correctly and will never forget when i hear someone saying a similar comment about their braking system. I ask. "Calipers installed backwards??"

At most alignment shops, the people doing it don't know anymore than you. The computer tells them to do something and they do it. My (and most I think) Audi's have a fixed camber, well not adjustable and based off the subframe. So if you need to make a change you can shift the sub-frame a bit. The computer won't tell you that kind of information.

Funny story, I swapped my whole front subframe with a refurbished one, fitted it with new upper and lower suspension wishbones, on both sides, took it for alignment after installing it and everything was within limits, this was on my Mazda RX8, all the alignment was eyeballed by me, the guy who carried out the check at the alignment shop didn't believe me at first.

FYI. When you are turning the car off and do not want the parking brake to engage then push down on the parking brake chrome piece until the car is off. A necessity if you do rear brakes. Second the car is highly sensitive to battery power and you can get all sorts bizarre and unrelated codes if your battery voltage is too low. Third when the battery get low you have to reset the park brake. It is a combo of using the park brake along with stepping on the brake and it will adjust itself. Why have you not used a code reader to see what the CEL is on for? It very well could be a code that is not a P-series (although that would be unusual) Very simple and if you fixed it- should be done away with. Also, after doing what you have done on the Jag, you should take off the battery and drain the capacitors so the car can adjust to the new engine parts. Surprised you have not replaced the O2 sensors. Very important to the PCM in this car.
