Two of my favorites are Donny Hathaway's "This Christmas" and "Christmas Wrapping" by the Waitresses. One that I like even better than those, though, is "Sleigh Ride" by the Boston Pops.
@americangiant10032 жыл бұрын
Skinny well said and agree 1000%. Both Donny's underrated classic and "Christmas Wrapping" should been at least been an "honorable" mention. And if you had to select the best ever Micheal Jackson/Jackson 5 Christmas Song IMO no doubt should been "Give Love On Christmas Day' was much better than the 2 that was what the Staff at Mojo. Personally I would have either the first Donny version of "This Christmas" or "Christmas Wrapping" in place of one of the Two J5 songs on this list. PS Mojo suggestion. Please maybe next time do the "best Christmas albums' ever. No doubt the "J5" would be on that list at least in the Top 10.

This was a great list, but I was kinda sad that “Step into Christmas” by Elton John didn’t even make the list. It’s a classic and it’s always in my holiday playlists. Some of favorite Christmas songs are: 1) Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer-Elmo and Patsy(this song cracks me up) 2) Step into Christmas-Elton John(such a classic and again, it always finds its way in my holiday playlists) 3) Oh Holy Night-I like the Glee Cast version of this song(there’s so many covers of this song but the Glee Cast Version is really good) 4) Wonderful Christmastime-Paul McCartney(this one has been a favorite of mine since I was little) 5) Mele Kalikimaka-Bing Crosby and the Anderson Sisters(such a classic and it’s the one that I associate with Christmas Vacation lol; a great cover of this song is the one Seth McFarlane did for his Christmas album a few years ago) 6) Ave Maria-Leona Lewis(oh my goodness. This was a fantastic cover she did. It gave me goosebumps and made my jaw drop when I heard it the first time) 7)God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen-Barenaked Ladies with Sarah McLachlan(another song that finds its way in my holiday playlists) 8) Little Saint Nick-The Beach Boys 9) Christmas Time is Here-Vince Guaraldi trio(love this song. Mariah Carey did a fantastic cover for her second Christmas album. She called it “Charlie Brown Christmas) 10) Please Come Home For Christmas-Eagles(I swear this song was in most of the holiday movies I watched as a kid lol) Honorable Mentions-The Chanukah Song-Adam Sandler(I know, I know it’s not technically a Christmas song, but come on now. It’s definitely not the holidays if you haven’t heard this one at least once. And it’s pretty funny too) Christmas Canon-Trans-Siberian Orchestra(I love this one. And the children’s choir did an excellent job singing on this track)
@americangiant10032 жыл бұрын
Being fair this is a very difficult choices on the best "Christmas Songs" ever . It was going to be heavily debated and even controversial. With that said, I agree with you that your picks of "Step Into Christmas" "Wonderful Christmastime" the version by Barenaked Ladies and Sarah of the classic "God Rest Ye Merry Christmas" and "Please Come Home for Christmas" by the Eagles should all have either been on the list or minimum 'honorable mention."

I'm starting to like Let It Snow more. I feel when November 1st hits (because the Halloween season is over with), it can snow all it wants. Plus everyone can go crazy on Christmas stuff if they want (I don't consider Thanksgiving a decorative holiday, it's more like a holiday like Memorial Day or Labor Day). So with that, the best way to sum up how I am feeling when it's November 1st is let it snow. And when it comes to the Christmas 2021 season, that's how I definitely been feeling.

First off, I thought the ghost stories mentioned in "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" was a reference to the Dicken's book "A Christmas Carol." I also want to give a shout out to "Christmas Wrapping" by The Waitresses & "Is That You, Santa Claus?" by Louis Armstrong. And a huge debt of gratitude to whoever came up with the idea to play Dan Fogelberg's "Another Auld Lang Syne" at Christmastime. It's a touching reminder that sometimes Christmas can be exquisitely bittersweet.

There’s no music that brings me more joy than Christmas music! I love every single Christmas song I have ever heard (minus maybe one) and I enjoy hearing all of them year round!

On an anime fan topic: “Snow Halation” from the series “Love Live! School Idol Project” performed by μ's (Muse), and released on December 22, 2010. Has the sound of bells, falling snow, glittering lights, and a heart warming melody that never gets old during the holiday season.

All year song but it definitely gets played more during Christmas in my playlist. Didn’t expect to come across this comment 🙂
@Duelinator2 жыл бұрын
@@leahelson-smith4315 I listen to it all year round as well, and it’s at Christmas time where the melody is at its peak.

Snow Halation not only feels like Christmas but it's the most iconic song from the Love Live franchise. After their first song flopped this one made them successful
@Duelinator Жыл бұрын
@@grayshigami6797 a real Melody that put μ's on the map, this skyrocketed the franchise in the future

Another underrated classic. Some many great Christmas songs that sadly on any music countdown lists something as brilliant as "Thank God It's Christmas" would be overlooked.

Maybe it's just personal bias, but I'm kind of surprised to see that "Christmas Wrapping" by The Waitresses wasn't at the very least in the honorable mentions of this list. I always heard it at least a couple times every week of December on the radio growing up, to the point where it doesn't even really feel like Christmastime until I play it at least once
@americangiant10032 жыл бұрын
No doubt probably among the biggest 'snubs" (along with say the Temptations version of "Silent Night') among at least a dozen other Christmas season classics that belonged on the list.

Christmas In Our Hearts should have at least a distinct citation. It's already an anthem here in the Philippines during holidays; world must hear the song. This is way back in early 90's and album sales/media plays are still counting.

“This Christmas” by Donny Hathaway should have been in the top 20.

No doubt. I would have taken for instance one or either both MJ/Jackson 5 songs on this list for that grossly underrated Hathaway classic.

My personal favourite Christmas song is called Christmas Truce by Swedish metal band Sabaton. Based on the real event in 1914, its about British and German troops coming together to stop fighting and enjoying Christmas. The song and it's symphony version are absolutely incredible

Bing Crosby must’ve been the voice of Christmas music back then
@americangiant10032 жыл бұрын
Eric. I think the really reason Bing's legendary Christmas songs mainly "White Christmas" will always be in the top 2-3 lists of Christmas songs has also been for historic reasons. It came out for the Christmas season in late 1942 for a Crosby film right in middle of WW2. A few years back when I watched the American Filmmaker/Producer Ken Burns did the documentary on World War 2, they did a lengthy segment on "White Christmas." And how that legendary song was played year round for the rest of WW 2 due to it's popularity. So in a scene "White Christmas" became an unofficial theme for the American led Allied forces to defeat Hitler as well.

I also think of O Holy Night, Away in A Manger, Give Love on Christmas Day, Silver Bells, My Grown Up Christmas List and O Come All Ye Faithful are timeless. 😁
