I'd say keep both HT and ATF, and replace Van Halen, Megadeth, or (possibly blasphemously) Pantera - I feel, for as amazing as Pantera and Vulgar both are, a LOT of people aren't going to vibe with the heaviness (although that groove, "the MONEY riff...", does incredible things) and the vocal style Anselmo employs. Nah, get rid of Van Halen for HT - Pantera are just too good. Once by Nightwish was also a bizarre choice - if I'm picking a Finnish band, I'm picking HIM. If I'm picking a Nightwish album for this purpose, I'm picking Dark Passion Play as I think 'normies' would vibe better on Anette Olzen's vocal style than Tarja Turunen's operatic style I'd also say Prequelle over Meliora for a Ghost album... And I do like people being 'scared' by Slipknot though, particularly vocally - that's a ridiculous concept to me... I just have to mention slam bands to people I work with for a reaction lol (like Mutilation Barbeque). Deafheaven's black metal vocals aren't going to appeal to non-metal peeps. At all. There. That's my (long-winded) say. lol

Machine Head--Deep Purple, Desolation Blvd--The Sweet and Seasons in the Abyss--Slayer could all be on this.

Sweet and Deep Purple are not metal, and Slayer is not exactly easy listening.

@@metalzonemt-2 I agree. I think half the albums on this list are not metal. My only evidence for Slayer is that my older sister who has no interest in metal whatsoever but she arrived at my place once when I had Seasons on and she started grooving.

@@christophermerlot3366 Well I guess it can work, but I wouldn't recommend them as a first metal band to listen to.

For megadeth it should have been countdown to extinction. More broad appeal.

I'm not much for metal but l do have some luv for the mother of metal Rob Helfort of Judas Priest. Turbo lover indeed! 🤟

Appetite For Destruction wasn’t metal. Was a whole genre in itself that began and ended with that album.

Subtract guns and roses and van halen... They are amazing rock albums. Add Korn, Sepultura, Slayer and Gojira.

I would agree that VH and GNR aren't really metal, and should allow other metal bands more deserving to be on here. On the other hand, Gojira, Sepultra, Slayer and the like are way too heavy for new metal listener, regardless of how good the albums are.

I used to think I could never get my girlfriend to like metal, as she HATES it lol, but lately I’ve caught her quietly humming some songs after they play. It’s a sign 🥰🤣
