Claire Danes is a genius actor and her portrayal of Carrie is to me, legendary. Aspiring actors should watch this show just for her sheer brilliance and to learn from her. As a viewer, I am enthralled with every episode. She's fantastic and I love Carrie.

She could be reporting the weather and I’d take time out of my 50 hour work week to watch that. How often do you come across an actress, actor PERIOD, that gives a breathtaking performance with EVERYTHING they’ve done? Spanning work over decades here... She’s mastered the expressive. She is just so stunning and captivating... I’d watch her in anything.

Season 3...Carrie in the mental hospital only being used as a ruse to lure out the Lawyer Leland Bennett showing that entire institutionalization of Carrie was a complete trick was MINDBLOWING. Myself, along with others, thought Homeland was losing it's touch. Could not have been further from the truth. The fact that it didn't make this list is a travesty.
@bunkhouse

The Toug I agree. The scene where Carrie goes to Saul’s house and it is revealed it was all a ruse was breathtaking. Especially the part where she tells Saul “ you should’ve got me out of the hospital sooner”. All the more jaw dropping because it was just Saul and Carrie; no explosions, gunfight, etc.... The show has always been about Carrie and Saul.

08:51 Brody's story is tragic. He was a Marine who was broken and assembled by the enemy to be broken again and again. Pushed back and forth. His loyalty was to whoever gave him the best chance to survive. He never had a chance. No one can judge him for the horrors he suffered. And worse than he did. Having to live and watch the lives he destroyed around him took everything away from him. Only Carrie hoped to find redemption. Brody knew his destiny was to die. In her last moments, she made a point of being there. To witness it, its truth, its history as it finally came to an end. Homeland has always tried to be realistic and show both sides of the coin (which is exactly why I like the series). Not to mention Claire Danes' brilliant performance. Few actresses can manage to be as expressive as she is. The final scenes cut my heart, but I loved it. It is life, and as has been said, each action has its consequences. People die, people. There is no point in being angry about it. The scene where Carrie ... Making a star on the wall of the honorees is incredibly sad, a farewell to everything she went through with Brody, a "thank you", even if discreet and silent. I am american. -Nick Brody 04:32 The character chose Dana and Carrie as soon as he returned from the Iran mission. Series that will leave a big void for fans. Ah, Carrie's dialogue with Javadi was awesome, it will stay as one of the striking moments of the series, without a doubt! "And what you wanted, which was for everyone to see in him what you see. That has happened. Everyone sees him through your eyes now..."

My top moments from Homeland series (not in particular order): 1) Peter Quinn's death (several scenes from the poison gas, to the hospital letter reading and Season 7 honorable death) 2) Season 4: Saul's attempt to commit suicide after he is cornered in the village and the suicide bombing during the trade-off (both events are excellent). 3) Season 7: Shocking re-resignation of President Keane (literally had no idea that was coming! and excellent speech from the president) 4) Season 2: Bombing of the CIA (SHOCKING!!) 5) Season 8: When Carrie staged killing of Saul in order to obtain the Russian asset (I really thought Carrie would kill Saul) 6) Season 3: Brody's death scene was extremely sad. 7) Death of Fara and Max (both were a surprise)

05:26 Did Showtime's homeland teach you about bipolar disorder? Carrie Mathison, played by actress Claire Danes appears to have Bipolar Disorder I (BD-I) since when she stops taking her meds, often on purpose, she spirals into a strong cycle of mania, melancholy and a variety of mixed or psychotic features. I think Claire does an exceptional job of portraying various mood episodes often associated with BD-I. My own mother had BD-I, but was undiagnosed and untreated for the vast majority of her life. Many of the various depressive episodes and hypomanic stages which have been written into the Homeland story line rings very true. There have been times when the daughter of Carrie Mathison (Franny) is in danger because her mother has such an intense desire to be a successful CIA agent. Sometimes Carrie puts her career over the best interests of her daughter and her life. The series, even though sometimes it goes off the rails, does stay true to how Carrie manages to balance her BD-1 with the shocking story of espionage and counterterrorism. If anything, I think the Showtime series does an exceptional job of portraying bipolar disorder in a thought provoking fair and realistic manner. Hopefully it will educate viewers who were formerly uninformed about the disease what a toll it takes on a person’s life and the lives of those around them. I also love how the show highlights the medications Carrie takes for her illness and even they are realistic. Carrie has shared that she takes clozapine, lithium, nortriptyline, clonazepam which are all drugs often prescribed for those with the disease.

01:40 Has Showtime's Homeland made a mockery of bipolar disorder? Absolutely not, and to suggest that the show has done anything to negatively portray bipolar disorder is entirely baseless. There is nothing about Claire Danes portrayal of the bipolar Carrie Matheson that could be considered “mocking” about the disorder. Sure, she is, for all intents and purposes, “stable” when she is on her meds. Now what happens when she is off her meds, that is the true face of bipolar disorder. She becomes manic in every sense of the word. Hyper-focused on a hundred different things all at once, spouting off grandiose ideas, behaving in ways that could generally be considered harmful (excessive drinking/drug use, promiscuous sexual endeavors), all things that have at one time or another been attributed to someone with bipolar disorder. On the other side of that coin is the depression. Once she comes crashing down, she finds herself in bed for days at a time, feeling like there’s a thousand pound blanket on her. She might have the desire to continue the things she’s working on, but there is no drive left in her. None. To even stand up and go to the bathroom feels like climbing a mountain barefoot. No two people with bipolar disorder are the same, nor does the disease affect two people in the exact same way, but I can say for myself, the aforementioned symptoms certainly applied to me at one point or another before I finally found a good balance in medication. There is one aspect of the treatment of Carrie Mathison’s bipolar disorder that I found may have been excessive, and that was the use of electric shock therapy. Well, I am not a medical professional and I can only talk about it through the reports (from serious, responsible and truthful medical sources) of people with their own experience, like every patient who has been treated by several doctors / psychologists / psychiatrists / therapists to the throughout their life, now I feel like they may have jumped into the electric shock treatment really fast on the show. In all cases of people with years being treated by doctors, the idea of electric shock therapy has never been proposed, not even mentioned, period. So, from my humble perspective, what Carrie goes through with electric shock therapy is totally foreign to me, now it could be for a number of reasons. Now I believe, with 100% certainty, I would not consider the program as “mocking” bipolar disorder, at all. The actions and situations they show are accurate, and the show handles the reactions of everyone around Carrie very well.

This is one of the greatest shows on TV, I have been hooked from the very beginning, Brody's vest bomb scene was absolutely fascinating TV, and it also showed how brilliant a CIA agent Carrie is, knowing that the only person that could talk him of the ledge was his daughter, so she goes to Brody's house and talks to Dana and gets her to call her Dad, great scene, Another honorable mention was Quinn's death protecting Carrie and The president and driving them to safety before dying.

Lot of great scenes. Sandy Bachman’s death, every time Carrie gets cornered on a street and she gets away, Maggie talking directly to Carrie at the courtroom…

Frickin' love Homeland! One of my favorite ever shows! It's crazy how a lot of it is eerily similar to real life! I'm surprised that they didn't have ANY of the storyarc of Angela on this list, such as her being revealed to be a traitor, or the plane exploding soon after takeoff. That shit blew my mind lolol. Can't wait till the next season frfr Btw, can I get some likes for my new song pwetty pwease? lolol NEW TRACK!!! "People Over Profit" by Con Rome feat. The Ultimate Rage & T.J. I don't understand Rotten Tomatoes scores for Homeland. Season 7 was amazing and just what I needed after the first two seasons. I mean every season has its qualities and the show doesn't need Brody per say so it was great to see the "old" Homeland from a new angle. Am I the only one?

Aayan's death should have made the list. I don't even remember Carrie's suicide scene, didn't make that much of an impact. Even Quinn killing the child was more impactful.
