At the time in order to have a show broadcast on canadian television, a portion of the program had to include something intrinsically canadian, or promote canadian values. SCTV was a show that made fun of american broadcast stations, so to get around that they created Great White North.

I feel like bonus points should be added if the Canadian character is also being played by a real Canadian, since not all fictitious Canadians are in Canadian productions (such as HIMYM and X-Men). While Wolverine is iconic, I think Deadpool should have made the list instead because he's played by a Canadian. Bob and Doug are Canadian all the way through. And even Dudley could have made higher if they counted that Brenden Fraser is half-Canadian. LOL Obviously didn't happen this way, but I think it should have counted lol.

In my opinion, you missed one fictional canadian: William Murdoch of the "Murdoch mysteries", a police detective who at the turn of the 20th,+/- 5 years works in Toronto. What is especially noteworthy about him, is his his use of cutting-edge technology (at that time), which in many ways remseble methods used today.

Red Green was influenced by Red Fisher, a Canadian fishing show where they fished and hung out at scuttlebutt lodge. Red Fishee was the spokesman for a mosquito repellant at events.
