P!nk's "Glitter in the Air" performance never fails to strike me even after the countless times I've watched it here on KZbin. It's powerful artistically, but the story behind it is even better: P!nk went on Ellen the day after that performance and she spoke candidly about how she'd never really felt the industry had taken her seriously over the years, as though many of them looked down their nose at her. Watching it with that in your mind lets you see it from an entirely different perspective. It's almost as though she were giving everyone the middle finger when she spun high above them and showered their tuxedos and designer gowns with water. That aside, nobody there in the theatre or watching it on television that night could argue her performance was anything short of breathtaking. P!nk nailed the live vocals while dangling upside down and ended it with a dramatic descent back to the floor in a pose that seemed almost Christlike. She then took a defiant bow, as though she felt she'd finally proven herself. She certainly did.

He did a strenuous dance routine for The Way you Make Me Feel, and then after a bit of lip sync in the beginning, took it home with Man in The Mirror. Added INSANE ad libs and spontaneous vocals. Literal goosebumps. He revolutionised Grammy performances, just like he did with the Super Bowl and paved the way for today’s artists’s performances. So yeah, he only lip synced a bit for that reason. He wanted to save all his energy for the powerful notes he was going to do and promote his new song Man in The Mirror properly. It doesn’t change how legendary that performance was 🤷‍♀️

He paved the way for all black artists to be heard on the show when most wouldn't watch if a black artists was on the screen. What about the tribute to George Harrison, which featured Jeff Lyne, Tom Petty, and Prince; that guitar solo he did, was speechless, just amazing. I could see George smiling ear to ear. My favorite definitely!!!

Pinks Glitter in the Air is the only performance on an award show that left me speechless. In an interview I watched she said its actually easier for her to sing upside down. I remember laughing though at all those rich people wearing such expensive outfits and hours of hair and make up and Pink spraying water all over them. Loved it. MJ: (like Prince), people were shocked about their pain medication addiction. You cannot move like that for decades and not be crippled all to hell. I was active like that for 25-30 years and I'm disabled now. I can't imagine how painful those last 2 decades were for them. I vaguely remember something about Eminem and Elton John preforming together due to them originally having a public argument over Eminem making homophobic lyrics? This was how they made up- to show a strong message to people that homophobia and forgiveness is important? Or am I remembering something from a different alternate universe? 😆 You ever notice Springsteen always looks like his heads going to explode when he sings? Don't attack me on my next comment....lol I cannot STAND Mariah, Beyonce and anything with Christina preforming on stage although I didn't mind her older sound way back. It actually hurts my ears. I have a medical condition that certain pitches aren't heard properly so don't attack me lol. Lastly: Kanye ew. I did like "Stronger" but that's the ONLY song I've ever liked by him. His douchebaggery over rides everything else. I just cannot stand him.

No…Michael’s performance was better and set the standard for every Grammy performance after. He did the same thing in 1993 for the Super Bowl, and the VMA’s in 1995. Without him, these award shows and halftime shows would be boring. But even if he didn’t set the standard, just take all that away, his performance was just better.
