Kevalry Pop Punk is more similar to Power Pop than Pop Rock. Pop Punk is also an extremely diverse genre, it ranges from the Punk influenced Pop bands like Simple Plan, Paramore and (Later) Blink-182, to Pop inspired Punk like Green Day, Sum 41 and The Offspring. Additionally it holds a flurry of sub-genres, like the rap and skate inspired Skate Punk(MxPx, (Early) Blink-182 and NoFX), EmoCore inspired Emotive Pop-Punk(MCR, Panic at the Disco, Jimmy Eats World, RJA) and what most can't even refer to as pop punk but some call "New-age Pop Punk"(All Time Low, 5sos, *enter pop band that play instuments here*)

There are a lot of people complaining about Green Day being better than blink-182, but pop punk it’s not about being polish or have more records, you are missing the point, pop punk it’s about energy, attitude, and being chill Blink-182 is the perfect example of pop punk, even over green day, because they are not trying so hard (not that there’s anything wrong with that) so yeah, maybe for some of you Green Day is a better band, but when it comes to embrace the pop punk movement, blink-182 are iconic.

Blinker I couldn’t agree more. I love Green Day to death and prefer them over blink but they just aren’t that pop punk. Not surprising, considering Billy Joe Armstrong hates the term pop punk. I also think when speaking of bands like sum 41 or new found glory it’s perfectly fine to use the term pop punk, but Green Day are just on a higher level.

Well the punk bands say we’re not punk either. Being a Green Day fan is like a curse. You get called a 12 year old, your musical preference is lambasted, no one likes or accepts you (not even the other fans), and everyone else thinks American Idiot is their most popular song (and people question why some people commit genocide). My list: 10- All-American Rejects (when pop-punk was falling down, they got more popular that they were) 9- Yellowcard (the use of violin added a melodic sound to the powerfull pop-punk) 8- Simple Plan (at their time they were really huge, with lots of hits, I think that they are a little underrated) 7- Good Charlotte (also big at their time and really influential to the modern bands of the genre) 6- Paramore (made when pop-punk was re-borning and with a girl vocalist...tell me if that isn't influential) 5- New Found Glory (really huge at the glory of pop-punk and really influential though their low pupularity) 4- Fall Out Boy (this were the guys that started the re-growing of pop-punk and lead to popular bands of the genre that we know now) 3- The Offspring (although they were more punk rock, I have to admit that after Smash they were more pop-punk. They were really influential in the 90's and also pioneers of the genre) 2- Sum 41 (when there was Blink, there was also Sum 41, one of the first bands to grow on the gold era of pop-punk and helped to lead other bands to also become famous) Honorable mentions: - Jimmy Eat World - Yellowcard - All Time Low - A Day To Remember - Panic! At The Disco - Bowling For Soup (In my opinion Rancid and NOFX are Punk Rock not Pop Punk) 1- Green Day/Blink-182 For me both are #1 so they share places, also an excuse to put another band on the list xD. (Blink were the ones who started the gold era of pop punk and one of the most influential bands of the genre / Green Day were THE pioneers of pop-punk, helped popularising the genre in the 90's with The Offspring and also became extremely big where pop-punk was losing it's fame, tell me if they aren't a GREAT band)

it is the best. Real punk that is. Since it is the reason that pop punk, metalcore, and most metal stuff nowadays even exists. They all come from punk roots, but nothing will ever be as good as 80's punk, or 80's heavy metal. Their are a few exceptions like Jimi Hendrix and Rush, but outside of that their are very little exceptions.

I dont know who they are, poor me, but technically, most of the pop songs are rock songs, pop is technically not a genre, its popular songs from the billboard 200's. i will add that alot of my friends like fall out boy, twenty one pilots. my chemical romance, and panic at the disco, but we like Panic and fob because of the main singers falsetto voices, which the main singer of maroon 5 uses too, but that band is more pop, but i can still see the rock, but that being said, theres basically levels of rock from the highest probably being heavy metal. OMG this is so long
