When bands sound crazy different live then they do in the studio it's because there was lots of 'fixing'; behind the scenes. That's how you can tell the really talented bands that are full of real musicians. They can reproduce the same quality night after night after night, the studio is just their best takes... and and excuse use instruments they can' get away with using on stage (Big orchestras, etc).

But i never found a live version of yellow that could compare to the studio/mv version. There is something unique in the tone of the mv version that chris' live singing never captured. Not to mention in some live versions the song is sped up, which IMO does not really fit the song.

I've seen Coldplay live twice and I can't quite agree. Chris's vocals are perfect obviously on the recordings but he doesn't quite always carry it off in the live performances. I attribute some of that to the fact that he runs around like a maniac on stage for almost the entire concert. How can you not be out of breath with that nonsense?

Viva la Vida totally deserves #1. This was the song that introduced me to a whole other world of music I never knew existed. I remember when it came out, and I loved it so much, I decided to listen to the album. And their album before that. And their album before that. They are the reason I love Rock/Alternative music. Yeah same; I reeaally want another song like Spies to give me a shiver (lol) down my spine when I hear it but that’s not to say their new stuff hasn’t had their moments. Up&Up and Hymn for The Weekend are pretty good, and even from their latest album, the song Arabesque has an insane sax solo and the horns are amazing. Very anthemic and actually surprisingly closer to their earlier stuff than the other tracks.

I respect what they want to do. If they're having fun, and doing it for the passion of music, then all the power to them. There are a lot of their songs from the past ten years that I like or even love, but few of them get close to the shivers down my spine that their earlier songs have all sent me at some point. I don't ask for them to go back to their old style at their own detriment. I want them to be happy and that's the important thing. It would be depressing if they weren't enjoying it. Plus Everyday Life has some amazing tracks on it that I honestly never expected to hear. Arabesque and Trouble in Town... those are amazing to me. Something that strikes real emotion. I'm kind of going off on a tangent I think, but oh well.

They should be on the decade defining songs and artists, possibly in the top ten British bands and many more.
