My dad pitched in the minor leagues in the Phillies organization back in the 60s but he never really taught me. He would say it was like the action of “pulling down a window shade” i can see that now, but didnt explain what to do with the wrists and hold the ball.. but now i know. He's not torquing his elbow, he's not flicking a wrist, none of that. He's letting the grip and technique do the work. This is why you'll still see Trevor Bauer throwing gas and some nasty curveballs 10 or 15 years from now, without needing Tommy John surgery or any other serious injuries. His technique throws great pitches, and also prevents injury. It's great, more players should learn this way!

Who needs a MLB pitching coach when you have Coach Bauer on your staff?! One of the intangibles provided that was overlooked.
@duffman182 жыл бұрын
Yeah he's known for basically coaching the entire pitching staff wherever he plays. He genuinely knows more about pitching than damn near anyone. Maybe 2nd behind the guy who fixed Nolan Ryan's throw and made his last years in baseball his most successful, with the least injury. And that same coach also taught Tom Brady how to throw better too, in a way that reduced the chance of injury while also being a better, stronger, more accurate throw. Brady saught him out because he's so well known amongst athletes. I can't remember his name but there's a GQ video on KZbin about it, if you search for "the coach who trained and fixed nolan Ryan GQ" or something and you should find it. It's just as fascinating as this Trevor Bauer video although it's more about his history than the mechanics of baseball. But yeah he has a pitching school now where he trains tons of people
