i received my edp and did a comparison. you're right about the "blood" note. there's a hint of something that in my mind, i associate as blood. the opening is aloof and cold. it has this standoffish quality to the opening note that seems to reign in the heart and base notes too. the edp has its own personality. while the edt is like that wilder little sister who's not afraid to caress a man's arm and tell him she finds him sexy, while showing her cleavage; the edp is the more controlled older sister who has set her eyes on a man, and plays mental games to make him notice her, make him approach her and make him think he's the one who is seducing her, all the time she's the one pulling the string. i love both!

So, hubby bought me both the hypnotic poison EDT and EDP yesterday, & last night we went out for dinner to this fabulous restaurant and the chef whom I know came to say hello. When I told him the food was so unbelievable, which it was, he kissed my head. Then, he said, he’s never smelled someone smell so good and what an amazing perfume I was wearing and asked me what it was. He actually got a pen to write it down to buy for his lover. ❤️🙏

Now then...my encounter with Hypnotic Poison. When I went to check out Addict I also smelled Hypnotic Poison. Oh...dear, not my cup of blood. For me it was too sweet. But wait! WAIT! I should get a sample and live with it for a while just to be fair. Who knows it may get under my skin and I might just see you on that red sand beach below Count Dracula's Castle. +Lanier Smith Dear Lanier, have you tried Hypnotic Poison eau de toilette AND eau de parfum or just the eau de toilette? They are very very different... The eau de parfum is actually quite scary for me to smell... it really sends shivers down my spine. The eau de parfum is like entering count Dracula's castle and the eau de toilette is like laying in a warm sweet almondy bed with whispers of safety surrounding you... So I guess they are the extreme opposites. haha... but yes... I do recommend trying the eau de parfum a couple of times since it took me forever to get into its magic. But I literally loathed it in the beginning... Super scary :) Dior "addict" is our "noir" movie... "Hypnotic Poison" eau de parfum is our 20's and 30's "Universal monster movie"... xoxo

The way you are desribing "the red sandy beach" and this scent memory from the 80s? When I first smelled this, back when it launched, I had a flashback to beach trips and boardwalk treats of creamy vanilla ice cream and BIRCH beer floats (not root beer). It took me a while to figure it out but it literally transported me to that moment in time as a little kid, lol. The fragrance for me oscillates back and fourth between something woodsy and delicious and this strange, creamy birch vanilla float scent memory. So crazy. Thank you for the great review!

I've never been into gourmand fragrances, not my thing really. But I don't know what it is about this one, that draws me in to blind buy it for quite some time now. I've only tested the EDT few years back and it was very voluptuous and creamy as I remember. However this one? Man.. I can feel the magnetism that is held within that dark red glass bottle. I've also read that it leans strongly floral, unlike the EDT. I might give it a try. Amazing review as always Dacob!

Okay Dacob so I tried this perfume on my skin and left it on for a few hours and....... I love it!!! I was a bit hesitant to even go near this perfume lol but though out the day it changed and I was just drawn to it. I would not wear on an empty stomach but it's such a mysterious perfume. Dear Dacob, what a wonderful review! know why you mean about the intense trip to the past --where you cannot pinpoint it but you have had that feeling that the perfume evokes. I think it is amazing how the scent can take you places where you have been perhaps this life or from another --without us trying to find it. And it takes you back. i remember i was once somewhere that smelled like my kindergarten room! That was 33 years ago Dacob! But the smell... and images of making a kite with my classmates and my father. There is something to be said for perfumes and our ability to remember and interpret life. +32roho Thank you so much dear 32roho :) I would suggest to first try them out in a perfume store on your skin and see which one fits and suits you the most. Only then would I buy one. They are very intense and not everybody likes them. I would say that the friendliest one would be Hypnotic Poison eau de toilette. but then again, not everybody likes all that vanilla and almonds... also summer is coming soon and these perfumes tend to be very strong and cloying in the summer heat so be cautious :) Maybe I could see poison girl for the summer but only in the evenings ;) xoxo

I’m pissed off coz I bought the small 1oz vintage bottle of the edt and it is incredible and I love it, BUT it’s too small. If I had known it was truly an authentic vintage bottle, I would have bought the largest bottle. But she sold the big one FAST. She only had the two and I didn’t trust her. Being that it’s eBay and quite a few times I’ve purchased vintage perfume that was stored wrong and it’s lost ALL its scent. Sooo I am on the hunt for a large vintage bottle. But I tell u I adore the edt sooo much more. The EDP is nice but nowhere near as amazing as edt. Imho

I wanted to ask, if this perfume has any relation in smell to the EDT version? Does it smell like the original or at all close to it? Is it a different scent entirely? I am going to try and find a shop that might carry this as a tester. I tried the new EDT version and it just smells like a watered down classic of hypnotic that smells more like something burnt, rather than warm and comforting to the classic. Something is missing to the new version... I've never tried this version though and the bottle really draws you in!

I'm a major fan of 'addict' ive been wearingit since it was launched..unfortunately the last bottle of edp i purchased was a 100ml about 6mnths ago and the formula hasbeen changed and although it is still one of the best fragrances in my opinion the new formula is lacklustre compared to the original...so i am just awaiting the imminent arrival of the 'hypnotic poison" which i have gone for the eau de parfum i never bother with eau de toilettes i like to go all out.. im contemplating on buying a bottle of the 'midnight poison' in my opinion Dior are the most captivating and long lasting fragrances .. though i have a love of 'angel' by thierry mugler and im rather fond of gaultier's 'madame' and also st laurent's 'elle' edp... im just hoping im going to love my new dior because lets face it there are way too many shitty indistinct scents out there that smell like they cost 10 a penny.. for me u really do get what u pay for and whenever i wear dior i get compliments from men and women alike...

I would stick with Dior and go deep, intense roses mixed with oud and zesty roots... oriental style... what do you think about this? So I suggest you get OUD ISPAHAN for your wedding! Its a bit pricey but it will remind you forever of that special day :) Just an idea... perhaps try getting a sample first to see if you like the roses and oud in it ;) xoxo

Hi Arkady. I made a review of both EDT and EDP and I mention the differences into detail. I cannot really say which is more suited for you. Each skin type, hormonal balance and chemistry is very different. You need to try both on on different days and while in different moods and then decide which one smells better to you. xoxo

I can't decide if I like this or not. I want to buy but...... It smells like marzipan candy. There is a mystery in this perfume and I think you have to wear it for awhile to see how it melds with the skin. Definitely not a blind purchase!
