I want to think she is more like one of those snails that adopts the cells of plants to become a hybrid. And Ivy immune system doesn’t kill toxins, they just don’t effect her, her body adopted plant cells and toxins. So ivy is more and more plant life as time goes on, she can bud clones off or backups of her self. Both having human and plant cells.

I actually really love the redesign of Ivy, she looks even more attractive as there is something very otherwordly about the white skin and black lips, she looks much more gothic almost, with the blackened corset and opera length gloves with just a touch of green accents, they almost looks like leather as opposed to the initial design which in my opinion makes her more intense and thus, more alluring.

You guys have created a MYHTOS for this channel. You've absorbed so much of the DCAU, it was only a matter of time before you started telling stories yourselves; stories which are ACTUALLY super entertaining for the same reasons the Timmverse shows are. After watching you pay respect to the classics for years, it's awesome to see you guys go all out and try your hand it it yourselves. All the running jokes and recurring grievances about continuity are all paying off at once, and it's epic. The basement joke had to come to a head eventually, and this was the perfect way to do it. It's brilliant; Mattie's been on the back foot this whole time, but now James is forced to go down to the basement and make a video, while Mattie sneaks up behind him with the upper hand! Quite the reversal! These two had better bury the hatched soon though, because the entire universe is at stake... Btw, Ted plays an amazing villain haha, genuinely threatening. Well done to all three of you, the acting is really good in this, it reels me right in. And of course, the special effects are out of this world; no glitches or rushed edits that take me out of it; it's just SUPER immersive all the way through! When I saw that the next installment will be a Will It Canon on Batman and Harley Quinn, I freaked! That has been a LONG time coming. It's time to put the obvious to bed, in spectacular fashion! Keep it up, guys! This is the best the Watchtower Database has ever been!

@@GuillespieC6652 Clones? or bodies? There's an idea in fiction of being physically in more than one place at a time... by having more than one body. I like the idea that Ivy.... had a connection to the Green all along. At first it was weak, but later... later she went full demi-goddess.... which... completely cuts all science out of it. However... if her work... others can't replicate? yeah.... Also it makes Batman's murder of plant clones less of a problem since... they're really just constructs.

I think the clone thing could have been a good explanation of the change of the character in the New Batman adventures via her physical appearance. I think the clone story is a good way to end the original Poison Ivy tale and her previous presence in the original Batman adventures. I mean she was one of the few villains that escaped justice and Batman. That has to be an achievement in of itself.

Perhaps Ivy's skin tone changes with the seasons, like the leaves change, or like plants only bloom or bare fruit in the correct season. Maybe she just gets exotically colored sun-tan, with it being entirely connected to how much sun she's gotten lately. Hydrangeas grow into different colors based on soil acidity and aluminum ions, apparently, so maybe her color is based on the foods she's been eating lately.
@imalltheragex20002 жыл бұрын
Here is my take. what if after Ivy was first shown to be able to make plant clones, every so often, she used a plant clone to do stuff in Gotham (perhaps to through people trying to investigate her maybe). but, sometime down the line, her already strange biology began to mutate into something not exactly human or plant, but both (kind of like a seed sprouting into a tree). maybe even during the explosion that made swampthing.... well... swampthing, Ivy was either making a new clone or experimenting on herself, but the explosion caused her to either fuse with a clone of herself and or rapidly mutate her biology (more then it was at that point at least) idk just a thought

In a way, you could easily reconcile it perfectly: Pamela Isley started as a human immune to poisons and toxins. She gets defeated by Batman a few times and decides to make a clean start, but knows that Batman wouldn't let her go that easily, so she eventually makes a clone to live a fake life while she gets away. During this time, she slowly warms to the idea of becoming less human and more plant in a more literal sense and after she learns of the Green, she probably accelerates her various experiments and clones to see what sort of powers she can infuse into them as they would be the testbed for her own body, whereupon her changes in appearance are her picking out a look she prefers over her more "mundane human" appearance. Eventually, she hits a point where she can always be free, but also have a connection to Harley through her clone body using the Green, essentially giving her infinite lives. She technically is and ISN'T the clone because the two are basically part of a hive mind that is now Pamela.
@buddyzilla4557 Жыл бұрын
I like to think we have both been seeing and never seen the "real ivy" since the early episodes at the same time. If she can clone herself as a plant and phychokinetically control plants she has made, why wouldnt she Avatar? The physical body of the real Ivy is somewhere else. She can posesss her clones then allow a backup consiousness to autopilot. This explains the hazy memory inconsostancies as well. The clones will remember spillover from the real Ivy or other clones she has posessed. It would benefit for Ivy that her clones consious start off weaker since they are not natural humans but take more from her own mind as she posses them. Its essentially organic adaptive learning technology. The downside is this muddling of memories and personality.

Because hybridized plants often can't reproduce on their own 😂 actually a bit of information I picked up from gardening with my mom as a kid. Hybrid blackberries and strawberries are always the result of two other plants being hybridized together, but that's not a lineage that can reproduce itself.

I always assume Ivy manipulated her DNA (as she hated humans and enjoyed plants more) to be more plant-like. And then there’s also a plant clone.
@andrewreid3539 Жыл бұрын
One explanation is that Pamela Isley continued to experiment on herself to enhance her powers so that she could become more and more planned because of her hatred of humanity she wanted to show off and get rid of any human aspects of herself that she could so that she could be more and more mad in doing so she did produce various clones maybe I'm trying to truly transfer her consciousness and maybe even achieve a level of immortality by creating a clone that would be seemingly impervious to age or would have such a slow or long life cycle that it mirrors something like a tree that can grow for hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of years as long as it's not cut down
@tomatoisjp2 жыл бұрын
Tbf, even without the comic tnba ivy being a plant copy has been on my mind since the clone thing in btas. Personally though, i see it as more a doombot scenario. Ivy's just hanging out, shooting the sheets with Harley? That's real her. Fighting Batman in a scenario she can get caught or die? Eh, clone can handle that. As for the skin, I imagine it's a mix of things. I think she has been experimenting on herself, but it could also be the pale/green is easier for the clones to maintain, so she's altered herself deliberately to obfuscate things even more. Og skin tone clones had that monster degeneration remember.
@glenmcinnes4824 Жыл бұрын
Can't both Ivys be running around? it could explain the inconsistency in powers and appearances, further either or both could be dosing themselves with different formulas to change up their powers, this could help explain the appearance changes as well?

I had always expected to one day read a story line with Ivy being revealed to have been dying due to all the scientific experiments and turning to magic resulting in her contact and communication with The Green and why she has the power to control plants. Being similar to the Swamp Thing as both were botanist that loved plants to the point of rejecting humanity.

I'd go by the batman factor. Batman could get had once, but he isn't gonna get tricked again. He'd pull his punches with the real ivy, and toast any copy, he has no problem killing plant people at any other time. So i gotta assume Ivy pulled it once, Batman caught on and she couldn't effectively pull it again, but learnt from her clone and changed her DNA.

I always took her evolution as a character to be that she was intentionally becoming more plant than person, possibly even grafting bits of DNA onto herself, and that the clones were just extensions of the original, trimmings that grew into full beings. Heck, the original in the end may have been no different from the copies. But it's a really interesting puzzle to think on.

I think the green isn't supposed to be a true green but like a green flesh tone if she was real. The darker green being a noticeable green if she was real and the pale being a lack of sunlight from living in Gotham and being in the lab. So her skin tone changing in the same issue could be lighting based. My wife and kids are Italian and have an olive tone but sometimes it looks straight pale or tan depending on the lighting. I think the same could be applied here until the clone breaks down enough to be full plant. So I imagine if you saw her you wouldn't think much of it. But on closer look you may notice a slightly green hue to the skin. Again until it starts to break down and go full plant.

It sounds like at one point she was a descendent of the fae from European folklore. Because her initial abilities and appearance are similar to a watered down version of the children/people of the forest. Maybe she was the descendent of a changeling that made it to adulthood and had a child with a human hybridization side effects do include possible sterility. The further increased connection to “the green” could be result of her genetic heritage becoming more active as a defense mechanism due to the life-threatening events being botany related. After all a lot of her main appearances, take themes right out of old folk tales that involving deals with the fae.

Later realizing it wasn't as needed directly through the green thanks to the things one clone learns from Swamp Thing. I'd be fine with Ivy in TNBA being a clone if she didn't die. This new Ivy is her own person, and she made friendships and developed as a character separate from original Ivy. To kill her off and then have everyone she loved not know or care about it feels disrespectful.

I would highlight the fact that if the real PI could creat false memories in the PI clone, than it has to have some shhort of a brain or something, so theoreticly you can ..... Lobotomise? her....

In my opinion, the returning Ivy in the Lock-Up episode was the clone. The real one never returned and turned over a new leaf. She sent the clone so Harley wouldn't be alone. Ever since her " return ", she has been de-volving untill she reverted back to her true " Poison Ivy Goon " ( Ivy's plant people name from the Lego Batman video game )form.

House & Garden was actually a terrifying, if not THE MOST terrifying episode in the entire series. And actually The Green is something else entirely. The Green is from Swamp Thing. It's basically "The Dimension of Plants/Home of Plant Elementals". It basically connects all plant life throughout the multiverse together. And being a living Avatar of The Green, Swamp Thing is an extremely powerful. multi-dimensional being.

@@dcauwatchtower oof yeah. Probably poor choice of words on my part. I didnt mean it like that. I just appreciate the effort in trying these cool camera angles and effects. Also I edited to comment because I notice I wrote live instead of love and now the little heart disappeared. Lesson learned I guess :'(

honestly this plant clone parade would give story hooks like Kang the conqueror with several variants of him

3 SUGGESTIONS ABOUT POISON-IVY & IDEAS TO INTRO. A MALE CLONE IN A NEW (BATMAN BEYOND) SERIES: I would like to see two things happen in new (BATMAN) cartoon shows; The first is actually show the Origin of Poison-Ivy, and the 2nd. is show a few clones of her. I also suggest maybe even introduce a few experiments of Poison-Ivy’s, of her trying to figure out a way to make hybrid plant-people. To add I think it would be great if Poison-Ivy’s greatly perfected making a plant-person, I imagine that hybrid plant-person is a male clone of herself. In addition I think it would be great to have him appear in a few episodes of a new version of (BATMAN BEYOND) cartoon show series. I imagine that the male clone was given a name, I imagine his name is (Peter Andrew Green) & I imagine that over the many years of his existence, he figures out all the things that his mother was not able to figure out in her life. And one of them is that PETER manages to figure out is a way of making more than one great hybrid plant-person. Plus to add I imagine that PETER decides to work on a way, to bring the rest of them all to life on a uninhabited planet, and then later have that planet become the hybrid plant-people’s home world.
