Thank Gawd I only have two tiny goldfish in 40-gallon breeder tank - 50% water change every Tuesday - and that takes forever!

Man your right I do 2 water changes a month and these comets are growing super fast
@kenaultman74993 жыл бұрын
I do 2 per week and have some chonkers! I highly recommend a python water changer so it isn't a massive pain in the ass. You have to do them. There's no way around it and will only harm your fish if you don't do it. I've got a 125g with three filters. One Marineland canister, and two Cascade 600 internal filters.

You should buy a cheap pond submersible water pump. Like 20 bucks and you can have it pump from your bucket into the tank without straining yourself

Bruh my water changes takes me around 3-4 hours. 300 gallon indoor pond. I do about 60% water change once every 2 weeks. Then I put aquarium salt in every 2 months.

Great video! What size buckets do you use? Where did you get them?
@TheJoyofAquascaping2 жыл бұрын
I just use 40l buckets and fill them half way, they're the rubbery ones you find in a lot of gardening centers and animal feed stores, the ones i have are generic no name brands, I used them tonnes back when I used to work with horses, turns out they're great for fish too! 😂😂😂

ive got a 75 with 2 hob filters and 5 fancies nitrate and nitrite always undetectable when i test ammonia about .25 do i still need to change to stop the growth inhibiting hormone?
@TheJoyofAquascaping Жыл бұрын
Hey! If your reading any ammonia that's going to be bothering the fish, we should be always be aiming for zero, it will spike just after feeding, but then you should see an increase in your nitrites and nitrates, if you're not seeing any of those at all, your biological filter may need a boost of good bacteria to get it converting that ammonia! We want to change ammonia to nitrates as quickly as possible, if your using hobs that have those disposable cartridges, they never allow you to properly grow a good bacteria colony, and in any case with goldfish, it's always a good rule to do waterchanges because they do produce quite a bit of waste!

How often do you do a water change? Once a week?
@TheJoyofAquascaping3 жыл бұрын
I waterchange most days, the main rule is to waterchange before things go bad, depending on the amount of food you feed, size of the tank and filtration, it can be different, but for me, I waterxhange every second day as a minimum to stop waste from building up and causing issues! 👍

@TheJoyofAquascaping3 жыл бұрын
They give it a good go for sure!! 🤣🤣🤣 if you start with a large enough bunch they can't eat more than it can grow, so even a pond with a hundred huge hongry goldfish won't be able to strip it bare! 😂😂😂

Can you give me any advice for water changes for 2 orandas in a 240 litre? Like how often and how much?
@TheJoyofAquascaping4 жыл бұрын
It really depends on the system you have for filtration and how much your feeding, going for 50% 1-2 times a week should be enough to keep things nicely balanced!! 👍👍👍

I can't imagine seeing one of your fish in person. They are SO BIG like do they need hugs?? Do they need walks? I love them. I wouldn't get one, because I would love it too much and I know I don't have the space or housing guarantee for their lifespan. Very nice fish. I love the fish shots lol 🐟📷🤓
@TheJoyofAquascaping4 жыл бұрын
I would LOVE to be able to hug them!!!! 😂😂😂👏👏👏 They are pretty huge now, and they are all still growing! With a bit of luck and a lot of care ill have these guys for another 20+ years without any issues, that's one thing I love about them, they are really a pet for life!!

Hi, isn't it stressful for fish to make water changes every day? Can I do water changes every day even with adult goldfish?
@TheJoyofAquascaping2 жыл бұрын
We can make its less stressful by not disturbing them too much, the main thing is to do waterchanges before things get bad, nasty water is WAY more stressful for a goldfish than a waterchange!! 😂👏🎉
@ColossalSwordFormAndTechnique4 жыл бұрын
But your hornwort needs the fish poop to grow. But yes, clean the poop once every 2 to 3 days. How old are they in this video? Bare bottom is easier to siphon vacuum. Filter helps keep beneficial bacteria. Plants help absorb a little bit if ammonia. And in the process, fish and plants grow. Yep. LED light helps fish and plants also.
@TheJoyofAquascaping4 жыл бұрын
There is enough nutrients in the water for the plants to grow without any issues, that's if they can grow at all before the fish eat them!! 😂😂😂 Bare bottom is easy but I prefer for the fish to have a substrate they can sift through and relax on, it keeps them constantly entertained!!
@emsarmiento40704 жыл бұрын
why don't you remove the plants man? the fishes can barely swim

I think it's a great video and has lots of great information, but I think the main thing that needs saying is your fish won't grow wen with just waterchanges. It's all about genetics. If your fish doesn't have wen genetics then it won't get wen
