Genius you’re an absolute genius!! Lol but for real that is a great system! I’ve noticed that people who run automatic water changing systems tend to miss a lot more of what their fish are doing. With your system it forces you to look inside your tank and watch their behaviour. I was recently at a friends house who has an automatic drip system and when I was looking in his tanks I noticed that his super red‘s breeding tank had a dead fish in there and it looked like it had been dead for several days maybe even over a week. When I brought it to his attention he seemed to be very upset it turns out that was his only super red male. Had he had a system where he had to look in every tank he may have noticed that sick fish before he passed. Like with everything there are pros and cons. Love the content Lucas keep it coming✌️

Great system. Thanks for your video. I am old school and run all my tanks with undergravel filters. Under the filter I have a network of pvc tubes with multiple holes. The pvc tubes are then connected to an upspout that I connect to my drainage tubing. So when I do a drainage of my tanks the water is dragged through the gravel and undergravel filter and then out. Keep up the great work. I am up to 12 tanks (took me almost 50 years) but I am still at it but very envious of your set up.

For changing water in tanks with tiny fry, I use an old school net breeder with some foam around the top so it will float high. Then, just stick the end of the hose in the floating net breeder and I don't have to scare fry away.

One thing to watch for with the ball valves set at half open is water erosion of the edge of the ball. It is fine for lowering flow but if time comes to shut it off completely there might be part of the ball gone to close off water flow entirely.

awesome system, just got a little fuzzy on the line up, it seems you first run the water through a pre filter, then through a carbon chamber, then a water heater(white wall heater), then it goes back to yet another carbon chamber then through another heater then into your RO system? or do you actually have 2 systems?
@LRBaquatics
@LRBaquatics 6 жыл бұрын
Its one system that has the RO system as a separate so techically 2 systems. The only reason I have 2 carbon towers is that I had the RO unit hooked up before the tankless water heater which had to be put in after necessity of my current water heater was unable to make water changes managable. There is a UV sterilizer after the prefilter and before the first carbon tower as well.

I have city water with 350-450 tds. In Utah it's really hard salty calcium water. I don't think I have chloramine but I'm scared 1 day they will add it for some reason I don't know.
@LRBaquatics
@LRBaquatics 2 жыл бұрын
I have a 3000 gal/hr unit. They cost about a dollar a gallon so 1200 gallon hr would be around $1200. Really it just depends on how fast you want the water to flow. Higher the flow rate the faster you can fill a tank with RO. Your city water is alot like my city water.

@jayworkman5792 6 жыл бұрын
I've always heard that De-ionized water was bad for you to drink. It's not because it's missing the mineral content, but because the water starts ripping apart the cells in your body on a molecular level. I don't recall the specifics of the chemistry involved, but I'd suggest doing some reading on it to find out for sure. Something about extra electrons... or not enough electrons...

You can add it directly in the tank and it will cut it down. I would recommend cutting it about 50 pts to 100 every couple days until your back where you want to be. Then mess around and see what ratio it takes to blend it from there on.
