If you place sand in the acrylic tubing and rotate it slowly then bend, you will avoid kinks. Then remove sand and rinse. We do this when custom watercooling computers. Kinks cause restrictions. Love this video.

One possible reason for the tubs filling at different rates could be the way you bent the rigid tubing. When you bent the tubing you did not put something inside the tubes, which can cause the interior sizing to change and pinch, reducing the flow.

@Aquarium Co-Op, Robotic Mower, buy it. Save yourself time with both fallen leaves and grass mowing. Then just adjust after its cutting tendencies to get clean mowing lines. Beyond that, Probably too late now. But you can always drain the waste water into a sump tote or two before it drains into the grass field. Recycle the aged water for other fish that you raise outdoors, for example... Rice fish. Or build a custom 12 inch tall pond that spans for a long length. Raise native crayfish/shrimp/clamps etc together with non-invasive water foliage.
@Lazy_Fish_Keeper3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I love water reclamation projects and wetlands. Our farm utilized an external greywater wetlands system, which is the best way to show people how beneficial snails are. Cattails and other native sedges can do a great job cleaning water, but only snails keep the sludge and bubbles from greywater under control.

It's a great set up. I knew guys that had similar concepts over 40 years ago in Detroit. Famous Icthyologist Dr.Jim Langhammer (whom i just foind out today that Cory knows of him; certain fish only remain in the hobby due to his work: Goodeids being the main ones along with halfbeaks, He was curator of Belle Isla aquarium in Detroit and president of the ALA) ran 65 tanks off of several 100 gallon containers, another guy had 250 tanks in his basement with something similar. These guys were so far ahead of their time. At the time, I had a 600 sq ft apt with 15 tanks and a 150 gallon :)

It is looking great. I like the auto water change system . You would think by now a aquarium manufacturer would build one so people could have a smaller version especially for those less DIY inclined that would operate with wifi and Bluetooth driven. It sounds like a business idea in the making. Something that could be set to auto change either everyday ever couple of days or once a week every two weeks or once a month a specific amount for each and also have it auto dose dechlorinator in proper dosing with option for liquid plant food, and or liguid minerals and specific nutrients. Just a thought thus allow less work giving more time to enjoy your tank. Micro valves and small tubing could make it easier for the Fish keeper to operate and control in smaller aquatic situations and needs.
@ChuckMSH3 жыл бұрын
This is amazing. The quality of your workmanship is fantastic. You can see when you start filling up the tanks the angle the water is spraying into them is ridiculously consistent for hand bent tubing. I would like to mimic this in a very small way for a simple wall of about 10 tanks.

The reason for the fill variance might be Dean's bending technique. The rigid tubing should be filled with something solid when bending, like fine sand. This would maintain a consistent diameter and prevent crimping.
@yourlocaltoad51023 жыл бұрын
Using a small cable or flexible tube that perfectly fits the inside diameter works even better than using sand. I have previously used old cuttings of broken phone chargers and they work perfectly for 6mm (1/4 inch) pipes.

A few quick tips for you guys to save you from burning out your pump, add an expansion tank somewhere in the loop to manage pressure surges, also add a few air bleeds, ideally at high points, also, add a low point drain for draining the system when you have to make changes. Add isolation valves for areas where you anticipate changes in the future. This is the sort of thing we do in the pipeline industry.
@luthmhor2 жыл бұрын
Also, the system shouldn't be pulling in air if it is at a reasonably high pressure, because otherwise those points would be leaking water. It's more likely that you have trapped air that is causing pressure surges as it gets compressed. Your lines should always be angled, and a bleed valve installed at the high point. Crack the bleed valve when filling to ensure the air gets out of the system.
