There has been some water damage in this FUJINON Super EBC XF 27mm 1:2.8.
I give it a try, but water and electronic is not a good cocktail..., it works now and then..., but not stable :-(.
This film was also just the posibility to look inside this lens :-)

Nice work. I got a 27mm with the " turn off camera and then turn it on" problem. My question is.. If I change the flex it would fix or should I also change the main board? what is the broken piece with that typical problem ?

Hi BlackGymkhana The brush i use 10:10 is a "Glass brush" or contact cleaner brush (i don't know the word in english)..

Hi Mike. I have the same lens and when i plug it to the camera its not recognised. My X- H1 either is dark or completely does not want to start. My experience is: It happaned that i changed few phone screens, know how to use soldering gun etc. Not afraid to take prime lens apart. Would you go in my position to take it apart and give a try or send it to Fuji repair? (I got this lens for free, so if failure im not loosing anything)

good to see someone getting theor hands dirty on a FUJINON lens. have you tried taking the front element off? wondering about the first disk, is it just stuck on?

I think if you had cleaned the circuit board with isopropyl alcohol you would have had more success. The evaporating liquid leaves salts on the board which acts as an electrical conductor. Use a soft tooth brush. We use it for water damaged mobile phones all the time. Great to see your work though...thanks a lot :o)

Hi Tony Thanks for the info, at this lens I use Contact cleaner, because I didn't have more isopropylalcohol, it evaporate a lot faster than ISO and there is nothing left, and of course a soft brush to take away the "salt" from connectors and contacts. Cheers Kenneth

mikeno62 Hi Kenneth we scrub the whole board as the mineral salts left create short circuits between discreet components and integrated circuits soldered to the board. Im sure you already know this though..I think Im teaching my grandmother to suck eggs! I really love the format of your videos...like a magician :o) I love fixing intricate things and you have inspired me to move on to Cameras and lenses..as Im also a keen photographer. Thanks :o)

Hi Tony It's a good way to share infomation on KZbin, so i'm also happy to know that my film has given inspiration to other people who would like to repair there own thing, and at same time learn, and of course save money, REALLY win win.. And there will be much more film's from me :-) Cheers Kenneth

very nice work!! i have the same lens, but i have a stain behind the first lens. is it possible to reach that point?
@mikeno62
@mikeno62 8 жыл бұрын
I would guess it should be possible to unscrew the name plate with a sticky rubber tool, or a pipe/tube with dobble adesive tape, and then unscrew the front part of the lens group to get rid og the stain or dirt. I don't have the lens anymore so I can't amke a film about it. But give it a try and take picture of the disassemble process. Cheers Kenneth

@mikeno62 I have a problem with my 27 mm f2.8. The Front element is going forward too much and then camera and lens stops working with message on camera screen "turn off the camera and turn on again". Have you ever fixed that

Hi, can you help me? I currently had my 18-55 fujinon lenses fallen to water. I asked fuji to repair but it cost half the price of the lenses so I think about disambling it my self. Is it possible? I can see there is water inside the glass, is it reparable? Thank you in advance.

Did you ever take it apart and fix the water damage?
@grnppj5641
@grnppj5641 3 жыл бұрын
@@brucehamiljr.9257 No, I just left it as it is and after a while the water is gone and the lenses worked ok. It still has some watermarks on the glasses tho and a litle bit lag of focusing sometimes.

how did you open it
@mikeno62

I use a JIS00 screw driver (Not a...!! PH00 screw driver) to open the lens from the bajonet, take care of the thin flex cables.
