This part isn’t an exact replacement, but it will work. You just need to cut off the two connectors on the end of the red wires and splice the two ends together. Hi - I am trying to replace the thermocouple on an old gas water heater. I am having difficulty removing the burner assembly from the thermostat/gas valve fixture on the outside of the tank. I can't get the bolt on the pilot tube loose. The bolt seems to be a soft metal and now has a bunch of nicks, etc. from me trying to remove it. Questions: 1) Can this be a "left-handed thred screw" situation where you must turn the bolt CLOCKWISE to LOOSEN? 2) Should I be using a FLAT adjustable wrench instead of toothed adjustable wrench? 3) Is there anything that the pros use that would help "grab" the nut better and leave fewer nicks - something like a kitchen jar gripper comes to mind. Condensation as the tank starts to heat, it drips and is normal. The green is mineral build up from water boiling off when it hits the burners, all normal. You can take vinegar and scrub brush and clean it off if you like. Dry it off afterward.

@@williamkeith8944 Thanks Keith. This must be the most expensive burner out there. This type burner should be used in a temperature controlled space that is above 32 degrees to avoid constant condensation dripping on the burner. Had to remove and clean five times during the winter.

Such a shame that Honeywell builds such trash , Brand new unit installed and failed the first day . No voltage from Thermopile . I look at the design and it is horrible . Such a critical part of a Water heater and poorly designed . And I have talked with many guys whom have had the same problem . Naturally Mine happened the last days of December , Hard work for an old man to bring a Water heater up into his Attic and change it out . Disgusting to say the least . So now I go to Lowe's and buy a new Thermopile if they have one . The Unit would run a while and shut down , I watches as I lost voltage from the Thermopile , now zero Voltage, naturally the status light will do nothing . The igniter works fine and it did produce Hot water for an on and off period , then finally quit . Makes me so angry that America is producing such garbage by the thousands .
@clintwilliams94245 жыл бұрын

so those wires...do I rip them out ?..pry em off?...I watch these videos to get a step by step idea on "how to"...but to skip steps kind of defeats the purpose of the "how to" video....but thats just me...im a complete imbecile who needs step by step verbatim explanation...shouldn't be doing these kind of projects in the first place...lol
