I wish my experience was peachy like yours but after hesitation and using it in a creek similar to the one here it leaked and wouldn't stop beeping. I dried out the next day and it's still malfunctioning and lost sensitivity. DID YOU USE ANY GREASE AROUND CAP BEFORE SUBMERGING??? I did not.

If you don't have money for both, I would recommend getting a full size metal detector first. That would be the best way to cover a large area. But I highly recommend saving up money to buy a good pin pointer someday such as the Garrett AT Pro Pointer. However, to be honest with you - I started out with my first pin pointer using the Harbor Freight pin pointer for only about $18. The Harbor Freight pin pointer is definitely not as robust as the Garrett Pro Pointer, but it certainly was worth the few extra dollars by making the metal detecting experience a lot easier than without any pin pointer at all. Here's a link to what I am talking about. Hope it helps. Thanks! www.harborfreight.com/metal-detector-97245.html
