I was a dumbass today and added some old gasoline that obviously had water in it in my truck Enough that it stalled the vehicle to the point that it won't start the way I fixed it is he's right the water sinks to the bottom first so go buy a $5 fuel rail tool pop your hood and disconnected the fuel injection rail that runs back to the gas tank put a 1-gallon container at the end of the disconnected fuel rail and cycled the key on and off turning the fuel pump on and off on the truck until I pumped out roughly a gallon of gas or I should say water that's settled to the bottom of my gas tank hooked the injector rail backup and the truck fired up just hesitation from a little more residual water the must still be in the gas tank they added a bottle of the yellow heat and added a couple gallons of high octane 93 grade gas to help raise the octane level and trucks running great again.

Water does collect in gas tanks and fuel lines from moisture in the air, or from the storage tanks at gas stations. Today, however, vehicles in most parts of the country burn gasoline that includes up to 10 percent ethanol, a form of alcohol that performs the same water-absorbing chores as brand-name gasoline antifreezes. Products like gas-line antifreeze Heet - which are available at automotive stores - contain ingredients such as isopropyl or methyl alcohol (methanol), but they function in the same way as the ethanol that is already in your fuel. Gas-line antifreeze isn't expensive and probably can't hurt, but if you have 15 gallons of fuel in your vehicle and 10 percent of it is ethanol, your tank already has 1.5 gallons of alcohol in it. Adding another 12 to 16 ounces of alcohol is not going to provide any additional protection against freezing.

Thanks for showing how to do this. I've been cited by the damned CODE ENFORCEMENT in my city for having a vehicle that has tags that are expired. Someone (probably one of my god-damned neighbors) called them, so I've got to get it running and get it inspected by the upcoming Court Date. So, I thank you for showing how to siphon the gas. I sure hope that I can figure it out and get my vehicle inspected by the date they gave me.

i think when they say oil and water dont mix... they think they dont get alone but really they will separate soon you put water and gas or oil together its pure water or pure gas ...water will make a pocket in the gas and other way round

Great video! I bought a Cherokee thats been sitting around 1.25-2.25 and the previous owner (coworker) said he ran it about a month ago so I should be good to go with some Heet to bring it home, I probably don’t even actually need it since it just ran unless he didn’t run it for just a few seconds, doubtful.

I have an 03 Mercury and it's been a little bit rough when I drive it, kinda shakes a bit. Could that be a symptom? Check engine light is on and when I checked my manual it said it may be bad gas or fuel cap might be loose. But I checked just about everything but my tank. Could that be it? Please let me know, this is the first time I can't diagnose my own car and fix it and my heart sank when it came on.

It gives a little shake on high rpm's btw, at first I thought it was my sparks but they're brand new and I even replaced them, then I thought my pistons were dirty so I seafoamed it, still nothing. I recently had my muffle put back on and im hoping it's just a cat that got destroyed. What should I do next? Check my cats or my gas?

Quick question: I made a mistake and put 2 bars worth of regular gas 87 in my Acura TL which takes premium 91. Should I siphon that out or just fill the tank up with required premium unleaded ?
@garreth6292 жыл бұрын
I know this is an old question, but hopefully it will help others who may have a similar issue. I've once done this by mistake in my 2002 Audi S4. Its a 2.7 liter twin turbo V6 so its definitely something you should be using premium in. In my defense the gas station hade its grades of gas put in a different order then I'm used to and I only realized it after filling up. It was fine I just avoided hard accelerations for the most part. I did get on it once but it was down on power. For those that don't know the reason some cars need higher octane fuel is to avoid knock which can damage an engine. This is caused by fuel igniting in the cylinder before it should which is caused by higher pressures in the cylinder. Turbo and supercharged cars create these by building boost. If you stay out of boost by driving gently you'll most likely be fine. Even if you get into boost somewhat modern engines can adjust timing which will reduce power and efficiency. Even with a naturally aspirated car that has high compression you'll probably be fine if driving gently because you will be restricting how much air get into the cylinder if taking it easy. Just drive like a little old grandma and you should have no problems. Towing, pulling a steep hill, or otherwise really stressing your vehicle in another way probably isn't the best idea either while having the wrong grade of gas. Older vehicles with a carb however are more likely to have an issue.
