am currently doing this to my house , the water tank is on the roof , i will use long wires but it won't affect anything, and also I don't recommend using cartoon if you are doing this in home to prevent fire i will try to find something more secure maybe plastic or wood

This circuit doesn't work. We have tried for school project. If the wires are immersed in the water the current doesn't flow through the negetive point to the positive terminals. Current flows only in direct connection.

I have connected the negative wire of the motor with common in relay and positive with normally open. The relay is connected with ac adaptor 5v. It's a 5 leg relay.
