This past weekend I went down to Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens in order to see all the water lilies and water lotus in bloom the week before their big festival. WOW, they were NUTS!

I enjoy seeing footage of your adventures/experiences/field trips. I suspect that many of your viewers have overlapping interests in aquariums and gardening and this is an excellent blend of both. I think videos like these are good reminders to us aquarists to turn to nature not merely for inspiration but for a much better understanding of the complex ecosystems we attempt to create in our fish tanks. And of course, I couldn't help but notice how murky the water looks - proof in point that most fish inhabit naturally tannic or black water!!!

Great tour! Now I know the differences between lotus and lily. Thanks! Beautiful gardens. The underwater shots toward the end of the video were cool - at first, I wasn't sure what was going on when things went upside down, but then the fish came into view and straightened it out for me. Great camera. Your field trips & tours are always a have-to-see video. Thanks so much for sharing with us.

You asked if we enjoyed these videos. I certainly enjoyed this one. I have a patio pond for the second year in a row. And that is largely thanks to your summer tubbing series. I recently scored a free preformed pond liner and I'm looking forward to make my first real pond. The more videos I see of pond flora, the more I love them.

Serously Rachel, this is really good. It gives us, well me for example, who lives in Europe, the chance to explore these kinds of places. These are gems you don't get to see if you even have the chance to visit the US, or any other place for that matter. It's so good to explore, to see all the plants, the life in the garden and to have some background informatio. The camerawork is already much better on t his one. I genuinely enjoyed this so much, I watched it twice in a row.

Yes I love it. My favorite part of your videos is then end. When you just stop and pause. Showing your fish swimming to relaxing music. Or this video you stop paused let the camera Focus on to the details and you can hear the background noise it was like being there in real life. With the names clearly written on the screen. More of this please! I enjoy your talking and learn lots but the end part of your videos is just the sweet desert at the end. So may other fish channel talk about the fish and show them a little but we don’t get to enjoy them like you do by just watching the fish be fishes.

That's beautiful. 😊 I know that's a 'curated' space, but wetlands are my favourite habitat. The textures on those lotus leaves are amazing. I like this video, though I think you might need an external sound recorder (or a mic of you can attach one to the camera) as the sound when people were speaking was a little muffled in parts. 😊

I like the content. Please continue! I grow lily and lotus here (Idaho 6a/b depending on the year). They actually do surprisingly well. But they do better in 50 gallon tubs. And actually come back every year after freezing. Obviously as long as the rhizome doesn't.

Thank you so much for sharing this with us and taking us along. Lol, Next time don’t edit just post a whole lot of it. But I guess you can’t really do that. I’m sitting here watching the fields in southern Alberta Canola bloom. A totally different scenario, but one that is incredibly beautiful in its own right as well. Your field trips have become quite magical for me, as we do not have mild enough weather to grow lotus flowers as beautifully as these you have shown us. Our growing season is much shorter, but in this only way we have a lot of beauty as well. I do believe that in one of my earlier comments to your one of your videos, I mistakenly called a Lotus a lily. I actually do know the difference LOL. Have a magical day Rachel, I know you have given me my magic for the day.

Adding a positive vote for this kind of content. Kennilworth is a great place, and seeing the video brought back good memories of a visit some years ago. The fieldtrips you are going on are terrific. Have you considered a trip to the Cranberry Glades in West Virginia? That is another magical place for carnivorous plants, along with many relict (and rare) boreal plants. The environment basically preserves an environment with its biota that dates to the last Ice Age. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cranberry_Glades

Love the Lotus. To bad they produce a limited number of blooms. I have never gotten more than 3 blooms a season from an individual plant. Here in zone 5, 2 blooms per year is about all you can expect. BTW, I have been growing Lotus since 1995. Water lily's make a better show.
