Some clips from a main break in the cold of February and the busiest road in town. This was the second break that day. Stay tuned for the road repairs we do now that the weather is better!

You keep putting stuff out there and you'll keep growing! That's what the big guys tell me to do and I'll tell you! We're going to be patching this road this week and I'll try to get some footage of the local concrete guys here doing their thing. Be good man!

Is your guys street department and the grounds crew all one department? In my city it's all one thing, you'll see the guys fixing the storm drains one day and they'll be mowing the grass the next day. They get moved around a lot.
@TimMcArdle Жыл бұрын
We have street, sewer, water, lake, and cemetery/airport dept. Most do their own things but if help is needed in other departments, everyone is usually eager to help out whenever needed.
@kobelcofan Жыл бұрын
@@TimMcArdle That's kind of neat that they have cemeteries that belong to the city. I used to work at a cemetery I loved it. Do you ever have to dig graves with them?
@TimMcArdle Жыл бұрын
@@kobelcofan I have not...yet.. It is a very nice cemetery. Almost all my past family is there.

Tim why wouldn't ya'll open a hydrant and bleed the air off a lot faster or were you afraid of to much water coming out and refreezing?
@TimMcArdle Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately this particular shut down has no hydrant on it otherwise we will flush them and have a salt truck on standby.
@nomename8049 Жыл бұрын
Next hydrant was too far to send it down one way? Also did you guys backfill with sand?

its a ez fix, but within a few years that whole will grow and split the pipe again
@TimMcArdle7 ай бұрын
Fortunately that whole pipe is being replaced in the next few months. The whole thing is shot!

Get that question alot. We call it a chain cleaner. It knocks the crustys off the iron pipes.

Goes to show how water finds the easiest path and can be very far from the main, lucky your valves worked to shut them off... try working on mains from the 70's! Haha
@TimMcArdle Жыл бұрын
This main was put in in the 60s I believe. It's supposed to get replaced now because of all the issues we've had. Only thing that saves us here is we've had so many breaks here, the valves get exercised alot lol!
@haywoodairline9407 Жыл бұрын
@@TimMcArdle Damn, I'm only taking over our system for my third year now and they haven't exercised or even flushed hydrants! Lucky you've kept up with it, doing it live is our specialty unfortunately!
@TimMcArdle Жыл бұрын
Yeah this part is good as far as a shut down. We have a lot of old stuff in town and definitely have some problem areas. I enjoy it and we try to remedy problems asap!
@mead67542 жыл бұрын
That should have been cut out, you'll be back within a year
@TimMcArdle2 жыл бұрын
With any luck, this main won't be in use within a year or 2! It's cast main and we've had several breaks on this stretch so we're looking at getting it replaced asap!
@walterdutra44907 ай бұрын
How many water main breaks can one channel/contractor possibly do? This is ridiculous.
