Water Moccasin Attacks Fisherman

I was fishing in Brushy Creek, TX for panfish, when I came across a hungry water moccasin.

Its more long and slender than a moccasin, if a moccasin was that slender it would be very anorexic. Another thing I noticed is when it was swimming at the top of the water it had only its head up, moccasins swim mostly above the water.

Everyone’s saying it’s a water snake but all I see is a neon white mouth at 0:45. The snakes are nearly identical to the point that the best way to tell them apart is the pupils which aren’t visible at that distance.

there are a lot of ways to tell Cottonmouth from the various Nerodia. This snake is indeed a Nerodia(water snake), long slender body, the way it swims with only it's head above water, how fast it's swimming, and the "aggression" in which it hunts the fish. Moccasins don't actively chase their prey, unlike water snakes(not to mention the differences not related to this video). Also most snakes have white or pinkish mouths, and most certainly almost all water snakes have similar mouths to moccasins, the difference is that only the Cottonmouth uses it's white mouth as a threat display.

That’s most likely not a moccasin. Because it is much more slender, more streamlined than a moccasin. And mainly, it doesn’t have a triangular head. Moccasins normally swim with their head above water. The water snake swims with it’s head submerged. And this snake is doing just that. And, it wasn’t attacking the fisherman, it was trying to eat the fish on the fishing line.

Snakes aren't aggressive. They're defensive. And that was a harmless water snake, not a venomous water moccasin. Water moccasins are thicker and have a triangular head. They also slither with their head above water at all times. This was longer than a water moccasin, too. On top of that, water moccasins don't move that quickly.
