Modern rod to a pretty good job. But it's really the reel with controllable drag that makes catching really big ones possible. With big fish, you can't stop them from moving if they really want to, but you can wear them down. The rod it mostly there to absorb quick tugs and give some direction control. People do catch huge ones on handlines, but it takes more skill.

I gotta say fishing for sport is kinda stupid and unethical. What is the reason to fish if you are not gonna eat the fish also, just bully the animal for no reason, hurt it, and then release it. Its kinda insane that after this video these dudes probably go to eat to some restaurant or market to buy food that has been transported from another side of the world with huge carbon footprint when they could have just cooked the fish they caught and make good meal with local ingredients and low ecologic and economic impact to nature (and their wallet). It's quite crazy, but if you buy fish from store, even if it would have been caught from quite near, the fish is often shipped to some low wage Asian country like china etc, where they clean and process the fish and then ship it back to western market, and all the time there are giant freezing units to try to keep fish fresh, so the energy wasted here and unnecessary pollution from generating the electricity and running the ships and trucks is just absolutely crazy amounts.

The Bible says that no one is a good person. We have all broken God's law the 10 commandments, we have all committed, lies, adultery, idolatry, and blasphemy. We deserve hell, but because of what Jesus did on the cross we can be forgiven. So if you Repent of your sins, change your wicked ways, and put your faith in Christ you will be written in the book of life. 👌 🙏Repentance is reviewing one's actions and feeling contrition or regret for past wrongs, which is accompanied by commitment to and actual actions that show and prove a change for the better........

I fish for seatrout almost every single day, and i see your point, and i respect it! However i think that you can justify “sportfishing” as long as you make sure to treat the fish as good as possible and make sure to use the right size hooks and don’t fight them too hard when not necessary😅

I can’t tell you how many click baits videos are set like this but I am impressed and honored that you did not click bait. Very nice catch! Trying to handle the fishing like bare handed was very dangerous though. Please be careful. Definitely bring a big net next time. Lmao. Love the video.
