Water Polo is one of the dirtiest sports, I'm surprised there are few fights, likely because it's hard to fight in water and stay afloat.

Water polo takes WAY more endurance and toughness than football and baseball. Same for agility and skill, but it's a different kind of agility and skill that you need. You need agility and skill while being in the water, which is an entirely different challenge. Also, any sport takes hard work and dedication, as well as athletic ability. Breaking down what you've said, we can see that football is weak in comparison to football and baseball.

@gabeuop79 - Yellow and red cards are for misconduct from players not participating in the water, or coaches (basically, a bench offense). There's regular exclusion penalties (like a hockey power play), penalty shots (like in soccer), game misconducts (like hockey), and brutalities, where the player gets tossed, probably can't play for an additional game (depending on whether you are playing international, collegiate or HS rules), plus a penalty foul and power play are all awarded.

@JimJam1304. A sport is a sport whether Golf or water polo. Golf takes more skill than water polo requires "physicality", thus Golf is harder. If it's all about "physicality" then football smashes water polo and so does Ice Hockey. It takes more skill to shoot a jumper from 30ft away than water polo requires "physicality", thus basketball is harder. You seriously think it takes the same amount of precision in water polo than it does to hit a 98mph fast ball? Gymnastics is harder than water polo!

@Trulyloyale .... if the referees did not see the fist, and interpreted it a misconduct of violence, and not a brutality, then excluding the player and starting at even strength is the correct ruling, according to the FINA rules. Clearly, that was what they interpreted. It was clear in slow motion from a camera angle that no referee has, but to call it an "incredible mistake" is hyperbole.

Sorry, i play waterpolo, and she didn't hit her. She thew her arm in celebration, and the other girl saw her chance to get the USA girl rolled from the game. If you look at it from a different angle, the USA player didn't even touch her. The referees only saw the last bit, and made a bad call.

@twiggles Wow, you know nothing about the sport. Technically, it is incredibly difficult. Most people can't even tread water. Now try treading water, all deep, without using your hands to tread, and then catch and throw a ball that is between a volleyball and soccer ball in size and weight, only using one hand, without having it touch the water, all while treading without using your hands.... and that's just polo 101 for 12 and under kids.

I've watched this video many times, and as a former "hole man" I can see that there are several fouls by Krystina Alogbo including a right hook to Windes prior to the shot. Also, post-shot, it looks like Alogbo has her left hand grabbing Windes ... Windes, foolishly, retaliates after the shot and is properly ejected, but the "controversy" over whether this is a brutality vs. violence foul, IMO is overblown. Both players should have been ejected.

This happened very quickly, and with the splashing and contact between the players, the referees may not have seen the fist, and may have thought Windes was giving a straight arm to the face. Now, if they did see the fist, and ruled it a brutality, Windes should have been excluded for the game, Candada gets a 4-minute power play, BUT NO PENALTY IS AWARDED. That is because it happened after the goal, and not during live play. FINA rules are specific.

Have you ever had your nuts twisted when you're swimming? Have you ever had the wind knocked out of you while treading water? and, with stuff like that going on considered a common occurrence, you're still being expected to give it your all in a match? He gave up with his head hanging down not becasue he didn't get the hang of it. He played before. He couldn't hang becasue he did not KNOW what he was doing. There is so much to know. More than any other sport except chess.
