Water Posture

Jiulong Baguazhang calls this palm Water palm. The traditional name is Liao Zhang撩掌 upholding palm it is associated with the Water Gua of the Yijing and so it is also called Kan Zhang 坎掌after the Yijing trigram. In this system water embodies more than just an uplifting palm motion. One learns to take on the qualities of water with the entire body and mind, flowing, twisting and bending to avoid attacks while rushing inward at times like a tsunami to overwhelm the enemy. The student is also introduced to Dragon Body / Long Quti 龍軀體 a method of coiling and twisting in close quarter battle to neutralize force or turn the opponents force against him for throwing and projecting methods.
