You can do a bachelor at mechatronics engineer like I did or even become an electrician, but the real stuff comes from doing, practicing. Stick with dudes who know and do your homework, then become one of the dudes who know and help others too. Just be sure to do the homework as power electronics may kill. Start with arduino if you like, it gives some cool ideas and is safer, low potency, cheap and you may google stuff easily. Just evade any 50mA in your body and know circuits

Great vid and great build. Though it seems you have more than enough energy to the house, would it have been more efficient to run the 3 phase to the battery location, then rectify it? Just a thought from South East Power Engineering UK
@FirstLast-gk6lg3 жыл бұрын
this is awesome
@filipkralj26183 жыл бұрын
Hi, great vid although I miss the ram a bit. Would it work without rectifier and batteries since all appliances run on 110V AC ? If stream is constant then there is no need for battery storage, you loose some power on conversion from AC to DC and raise the cost a bit
@JohnSmith-yv6eq3 жыл бұрын
The raw voltage from the washing machine motor being spun by the Pelton wheel is 400VAC, at a high hertz frequency. That voltage is dangerous and tends to leak away through insulation with large line losses. So rectification to 27 VDC brings it down to 24VDC battery charging voltage...then the batteries feed a 24VDC to 230VAC inverter. 230VAC in New Zealand is the standard household voltage which means that all household appliances are therfore able too use it. Line losses at 230VAC over the 400m from the generator to the house are minimal.
@filipkralj26183 жыл бұрын
@@JohnSmith-yv6eq I agree, however step down transformator could do the trick, I am from Europe and we use 230V also but I dont think that you can break insulation with 400V even when using cheaper cable, this voltage is common in industry machines and no special insulation cable is used there. Point is that battery is necessary with oscilating power source, like solar panels. All batteries have relatively short life cycle and will be first thing to replace besides bearings on generator due to friction
@JohnSmith-yv6eq3 жыл бұрын
@@filipkralj2618 Marty does it his way and it works for 17 years, using only 3 x 2 sets of old truck batteries..the batteries being charged directly off the rectified 400VAC generator and are always topped up by the generator constantly at 885 watts...and are only drawn on in high demand situations...which is far different from solar where the demand at night has no contra generation.....all the load draws down the batteries....all night. The 400VAC is a different and dangerous beast to deal with for an amateur...27VDC..not so much. Feel free to make a system and trial it with your ideas and we will watch the YT channel....
