Water pump impeller replacement on 9.8 hp (1980's) Mercury outboard

Replacing the impeller on my Mercury outboard. The motor would cut out due to overheating and I noticed it no longer had the water stream coming out its side. Needed a new impeller - part # 18-3054. The motors have 2 different size drive shafts so make sure you check which you have before you order the parts.

Pro Tip - remember what gear position you were in before removing bottom end and save yourself the time and agony I went through when putting it back together!
