Water Pump Replacement on a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0L

This video covers the replacement of a water pump on my daughter's 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 4.0L engine. I hope it is useful if you have to undertake this task.

Not fully detailed like others but thanks for sharing. You do not show getting the fan shroud off which is hard to get to on the lower bolts. The one on the drivers side is very hard to get to on my jeep. A socket head is impossible to get on. Have to use a short handled box wrench or remove the lower radiator hose. My jeep has both a electric fan and a clutch fan.

Do Not waste your time removing the shroud or either pulleys completely unessesary this can be easily done even if you have the electric fan & fan çlutch 1/2 inch bolts hold the pump in 36 mm for the fan çlutch

Here's how you do it no need to remove the fan shroud , drain the radiator loosen the fan bolts rent a fan çlutch removal tool break free the fan çlutch remove the fan bolts remove the fan çlutch tuck the fan blade out of the way change the water pump clean old gaskets off first it's easier if you remove the thermostat housing the gasket is only a couple bucks these guys always make things so much harder than they should be

@@TreyClanton I just did mine today I have the electric fan and fan çlutch trust me there is plenty of room you have to work blind with your fingers a little bit

@@TreyClanton no prob I hope I was able to help someone by the way if anybody needs to remove the should to change the radiator get a 10 mm universal socket auto zone has a 10-10 mm kit for$10 bucks grind down the socket head on the 10 mm universal socket the 1/4 in drive one & use your 1/4 in ratchet and extensions I can't remember but I think you need an additional universal in between I spent 4 hrs till I did this & then it took only 10 mins once I did this

@@TreyClanton I did leave out some minor details but if someone can't figure out the minor details they probably shouldn't be trying to do it themselves such as I had a stuck bolt that I felt stretching & if I didn't heat it up it would have broke of course I replaced it with a new one

Can't get past the fan shroud... how do you get that last blessed bolt out on the driver's side?

I had to go to the dealership and pay them $30 to remove that bolt and give it to me. After that I could easily remove the other 3 bolts and will never re-install that 4th bolt. I've seen guys on forums and youtube jerry-rig tools and then one guy on a forum said just have the dealership remove it. Some will do it for free. Not worth my frustration to try.

@@johnfritz8571 I was finally able to get it loose myself, but I had to loosen the radiator and do some gymnastics under the hood. Not a fun job and it basically took all day.
