Nepa Krawlers, Just subscribed!!! The visuals were excellent, your teaching skills are on point!!! I am a woman and I would want you to teach me about trucks, cars!!! The best video I have ever seen on YT concerning my Jeep!!! Thanks for sharing your knowledge, I really appreciate the instructions on the thermostat!!! And the pulley, my water pump needs to be replaced, but there is a CLACKING noise that, I now realized after praying and asking others what it might be and my brother said, the water pump when its in need of replacing will make that noise!!! Thanks again, I must learn about torquing!!! I can do all the other things, but not confident about torquing just yet!!! My daughter probably can handle the torquing for she is good with the tools!!! Thanks again for great video!!!

I had a hell of a time a couple years ago sealing up that damn verticle thermostat on my wife's Jeep. Just like you stated in the video that thermostat would move right before you seat the housing flush with the cylinder head. I'm going to try your method next time because 2 yrs. later (now) the S.O.B. is leaking again. Thanks for the video and the advice. I appriciate it sir.

Thank you for providing a excellently detailed video! My 2000 4.0 WJ is slightly different than the one you worked on in the video; I was completely thrown off when you pulled the fan shrowd off so easily only to discover there was no clutch style fan attached to the pulley. I honestly didn't know some WJs came that way. Do you have a video where you replace the water pump in a 4.0 with a regular clutch style fan attached to the pulley like my WJ? Or do you have any tips or tricks on the easiest/quickest way to replace the water pump with fan clutch? Any information will be greatly appreciated.

@@darrellwilliams4520 -- I made my own funnel. I attached a piece of PCV pipe to an empty water bottle with duct tape (cut the bottom off the water bottle and PVC attached to the bottle threads). Worked like a charm and let the car burp when I replaced my upper and lower radiator hoses

There is a solid state fan control module mounted behind the passenger headlight. They are known to fail. It's a small black square with a heat sink bolted to the fender well just behind the headlight. If you remove the headlight it's easy to get to. Otherwise it's pretty impossible to see

If your jeep has Air in it it will over heat so How do I know if the water pump is shot or if I just have air in it?
@dkenderdine796 жыл бұрын
Water pumps can fail in 3 ways. A leak at the bearing (the weep hole on the underside of the pump shaft will drain coolant) or the bearing will fail. (Loud noise and wiggly pully) or the impeller can rot and disintegrate causing a low flow condition. A good way to test your pumps flow rate is to disconnect the heater hose coming from the water pump at the firewall connection. Place it into a bucket and start the engine. If coolant pumps out rapidly the pump is working. If it doesnt pump out or is very slow the impeller is likely damaged. If your system has been closed for some time and they are no leaks its safe to assume the air has purged on its on (its designed to) you only need to purge it yourself when the system has been drained as in this video. Also note that your overheating can be caused by many factors including a bad fan relay, bad fan, bad head gasket or cracked head. If you can verify the fan works, and no coolant is being lost. Check the flow of the pump. If the flow is good assume the theromost is failed.

Great video, but where's the fan & fan clutch. Most of the videos this is gone. Also I've looked at used Jeeps with I6's & V8 but no fan or clutch. My electric fan is toast and I took it off 12 months ago. Most aftermarkets are too deep and hit on the stock fan/clutch. Only one that fits is AutoZone's. Lastly you didn't mention the thermostat bleeder valve goes up as positioned in the block.
@dkenderdine796 жыл бұрын
This is an 01 grand Cherokee only 1 multi speed E fan. No fan clutch. The factory thermostat does not have a bleed valve. Therefore I didn't mention it because it doesn't have one 😉

Im here to tell ya...Ford engineers are smarter than mopar engineers. Fords can be built quicker on the line. And fixed faster by the end user. As a born and bred mopar fan...after owning my 1st Ford...gotta say...mopars suc to work on , compared.
@CameronDC-Grimes Жыл бұрын
I actually agree, there are some very dumb Chrysler/Mopar engineering designs. If you have the 01-04 WJ 4.7L you know what retardation went into radiator removal design and the OE fan module being under the passenger headlight under a plastic layer you need to cut a 4" square into just to get into it and let airflow in. The failing door harness wiring is cheap wires that are 5 different gauges. The proprietary bolt sizes on sway bar link to bar. The hydrolic fan instead of a electric fan. The shroud eats up all the space and honestly not needed, no overheating here and I don't have mech fan just a 1350CFM 14" fan.
