Watching this is very disturbing to me but it's the same time it makes me believe that there are still wonderful people out there in our country, I truly am grateful for you guys helping all those people you could and animals. I travel all up and down the Northeast Coast and Midwest I am a truck driver. I was actually born in Fort Meade Maryland in the county of Anne Arundel. So I believe I have a great feeling for Maryland and it's people because I was born there. I truly love passing through Maryland it is a beautiful state with amazing people. Thank you again for helping so many people. I can't imagine going through such a traumatic event of losing everything that you have work so hard for. I am keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers. I apologize for any grammar mistakes I'm using voice to text to safer way for me to text and drive through my Bluetooth headset.

Thank God there are people willing to put their life on hold and placed themselves in jeopardy to rescue others. I cannot imagine what it must be like to see your home completely submerged in flood waters. I was surprised to see how much stuff the family took with them and very happy to see the dogs go out of the house right away before some of the family members. My heart still breaks with what happen in Katrina. So many animals abandoned, killed or left tied in the backyards to die a slow terrifying death by drowning when the families left. May that never ever happen again. How long before the flood waters recede enough for families to return to their homes and will it likely be a total loss due to mold for most of these homes?

Nicely done. Would it not be smart for people living in potential flood areas to keep a kayak or two or canoe in their attic or upstairs? Especially overweight people like these who can't swim. I worked in disaster relief and noticed that obese people have two strikes against them from the start, simply because they can't move around well. And they are hard to carry. And they can't help rescue others.

Hope you made it ok. We went through this in Bossier City, Louisiana this year. It's always best to just leave before you have to be rescued. We woke up to it being too high. Talk about scary! So we were rescued by firemen in a boat (3 adults, 4 teenage boys and 4 dogs, me in a wheelchair). I'm sure they thought we were crazy having that many lives in our house, lol. Big house though.

Lived in Louisiana for years, got flooded out as well. Seems to be a fact of life for that area. Don't know why people don't build all concrete or block homes like in Florida. Drywall does not do well with moisture. Nonetheless, sorry to see bad things happen to good people.

This is actually not in a flood zone. Most of these people don't have flood insurance because of it. This particular area has never flooded like this. I'm from north Louisiana. Last year we had a major flood and never recovered. It caused all the tributaries from the Red River to flood down south, including this area. Then we flooded again this year, and we had to be evacuated by boat also. We woke up to water to high to get out. We had flood insurance thankfully. So, these 2 floods made it to where south Louisiana waters were too high to drain the rapid rainfall. Point being, they didn't build in a flood zone necessarily. The entire state has been a flood zone for the past year, and it's almost impossible to get flood insurance with the waterways still above normal levels. Nothing they could do.

God bless you all, may the good lord almighty, protect and give you guidance, in your time of need. My sweet loving Jesus, show mercy on all those who are struggling with their loss of spouse, House, automobiles family members, animals. Jesus I ask that your able, to lift the spirits of all those, who are in need. Give them strength, give them shelter, give them nourishment in your name and scripture. Help your church that has been scattered, come together and count their blessings. Starting with you, Jesus Christ. The name above all names! For you have said in many ways, that you did not come for the wealthy with homes and fine furnishings, you came for the poor, to save their souls, to let them know that they should always seek the kingdom of God, which is inside of us all. Jesus, have mercy on all the people of the world, we all suffer in someway. Help us to cast aside our wants, and to keep our focus you. I say these these prayers in your name, Jesus Christ, amen!

Escaliper, we were rescued by the Louisiana National Guard out of Alexandria, LA after we swam out in the middle of the night. There is no government larger enough to be little more than hapless when people are trapped over thousands of square miles of flooded terrain accessible only by boat. The day was saved by the hundreds of ordinary citizens that sacrificed their own boats, gasoline and precious time to go out and search for people in need. We owe a debt to the Cajun Navy that can only be repaid with like service.
