Keep the kidney focused videos coming Thomas! I've been having more kidney/hydration issues recently, at my 10 month mark on keto. Anything you have in regards to leafy greens, nuts and oxalates forming kidney stones would be excellent. Albuminurea is also a concern of mine due to consistently foamy urine when I eat too much protein, which then led to an underconsumption of protein that also felt awful. Finding the right fluid & electrolyte balance for me has been the absolute hardest part of my keto journey, and it has made me want to quit several times over the course of the past 10 months. Luckily, I've stayed the course, and hope to make 12 months successfully around Thanksgiving. You started my journey last year, so thank you for that. Down 70lbs back to my weight at 18 years old. Very happy, but I worry about kidney damage more often now.

I know it's a bit late but drinking lots of distilled water everyday helps repair kidneys and liver damage it's pure water the same as rain, snow, fog, dew, the way nature intended it to be, only water humans should be drinking, not that garbage tap or bottled water, it's best to store and drink it from glass, keeps the body very clean and young you'll feel amazing and people won't believe your the same person trust me hope that helps.
@shortstudios4453
@shortstudios4453 Ай бұрын
@@nikolajnielsen1466 I would say no more than 1g per pound of body weight. Meaning if you are 150 pounds you can eat up to 150 grams of protein. Higher levels of protein have been tested and there wasn't any side effects in the short term however it was not tested for the long term. I would suggest not going above 1g per pounds of body weight.

Thomas, thank you for explaining so well the mechanism of aldosterone and ADH secretion, but I also want to point out that it gets more complicated than that, aldosterone also has other mechanisms of negative feedback back secretion that involves the renine, angiotensin, aldosterone system in the kidneys. I know you need to make it as simple as possible so everyone could understand but I thought it might be of some help to clarify that. Anyway keep on the nice work.

Hey I have a question about red meats I know it's OK for keto but I recently went to the optometrist to get my eyes checked and I told them about a white ring around my eye. She told me it was Arcus senilis (is a gray or white arc visible above and below the outer part of the cornea) Arcus senilis is common in older adults. It's caused by fat (lipid) deposits deep in the edge of the cornea. It isn't related to high cholesterol, however. Arcus senilis doesn't affect vision, nor does it require treatment. I am 25 by the way so she told me to eat less red meats so I've been on a chicken diet for like the past 3 months and maybe you can cover something on this issue or some other types of filling foods. I'm also asking fellow viewers for help on some other of his videos he has made so many I wouldn't know where to look for my specific problem. Sorry for the unrelated topic to this video just assumed it would be seen here than a video that's like 1 year old or something. Thank I love the content and I was inspired by your story.

I gained 2 kg weight within 3 days from taking Aleve (naproxen) every day. I was on the scale this morning and was really frustrated as I have worked hard, being on keto the last 5 weeks to get off 4,5 kg - and now? 2 kg up. Soo frustrating. I stopped the Aleve immediatley and I really hope the extra "weight" (water retention?) will go away again fast. I feel bloated and puffy :( (by the way: I am a female - so I guess woman will hold water more then men)

When I explained that he said that I was retaining water and I came here to this video. Because he suggested I stop drinking too much water. I live in Las Vegas, NV & it was 105 that day... His advice helped but I couldn't stop. I've been dehydrated 2 already this year. 1st time threw up and almost passed out I didn't eat all day either. I didn't feel dehydrated tho but the 2nd time I felt it was so hot and lady gave me water. I was so grateful 🥲 Thank you for the help! I had no idea what water retention was?!🤠
