Very glad that you made such good records at the time. Pity we mainly have stills of the Cork, Bandon and South coast. In spite of that Ernie Shepherd's book has many in B & W. I look forward to the return of commuter services to Youghal -- one day.

It’s mad to think that all of the guys in this video are now passed….and they all look happy in their work compared to the stresses of today

How sad it’s all been pulled up 😪 On a positive I hear Irish railways are reinstating some old lines 👍🏻 Lorry drivers are in short supply both their and back in the U.K. so hopefully that’ll encourage more railways coming back 😀

I drove past North Esk yesterday along the N25. They are upgrading a motorway junction to improve access to Cork. Two things struck me (1) the foresight of those who could visualise that North Esk would be in the future a prime location for trucks, traffic and access to a large city in the 1970's and (2) the absence of leadership and vision in planning modern day freight rail in an island of almost 7 million people.

Agree with you completely. But 7 million people? Where did you get that from?

Good Footage from the Good Days Tom!😃.When did Freight Train Services cease running to and from Cork?.What was the reason?.
@RYNT11575 жыл бұрын

It makes no sense because the movement of goods was really ramping up then, and has been ever since.
