I am so happy this exists. Lately I’ve been meditating and discovered how my body moves better in fluid motions. I then started to overthink to remember tai chi ! I was so excited and after seeing so many animes, I looked up water style tai chi. You showed an amazing example that I truly will learn. I’m a 6ft Mexican male, i do feel a natural calling towards this. I was already in touch with my body and energy through marching band, this is definitely going to be my next journey!

Fascinating form! I just finished reading the Dao de Jing, a qigong interpretation, and currently learning the Yang Style long form with dr Yang book along my Shotokan Karate classes. I am planning to learn Liu He Ba Fa once I master the Yang style form.

Thank you so much shifu Liang ! I can't wait to start practicing and learning the moves. Such an intricate style. I am a student of yang style tai chi here in Eugene, OR under shifu David Leung. He is a great teacher so it would be most awesome to augment my lessons with the water style. peace

I primarily study Yang Style 24 form. I also have DVDs of other styles. But this is new for me, & I actually like this better than Tai Chi. I can see both Qigong & martial applications in this.

I know this video is a few years old so I'm not sure if you'll see this. I was curious... I have heard a couple people reference a "main form" of Liuhebafaquan as you have, but I haven't seen anything about forms at all in the Five Character Secrets. I am wondering if I'm missing something very obvious, but where would I be able to find the original record of the form? I wanted to show my students some of the structure, and I have looked and looked but can't seem to find a source.

This form is the closest you'll find to the original. Helen's father learned this form as a child on Emei mountain from his grandfather, and Grandmaster Liang was the first person to reveal LHBF to the public in the 1970s in China. There is no written record.

@@Ymaa_Publication_Center Sorry for the long response time, somehow never saw this reply until now. Thank you, that answer was very helpful. Also pretty much confirms all the stuff I've dug up since. Long, long tradition of forms being revealed to the sages in caves of sacred mountains and passing that down along a family line. I ended up developing my own form as well, and it has been interesting to come back to this video and see the similarities and differences between mine and Grandmaster Liang. If she ever ends up doing a seminar or something in the LA area I would be over the moon.

To YMCAA publisher, I have a question. Is it possible learning water style without learning other inner style, like taichi and the others? Yesterday I bought Liu he ba fa via playstore, and master Liang said that in order to understanding water style, you must first have an experience with other inner styles like taichi or so on. That statement seems like discouraged me who only a beginner

Y.M.A.A. is Yang's Martial Arts Association. Yes, you can train only LHBF Water Style. Historically, it was only taught to experts of all internal arts, but that standard no longer applies.

Do some LHBF practitionners perform in MMA ?
@Ymaa_Publication_Center4 жыл бұрын
Maybe, but in real fighting, the techniques are alive and constantly adapting. There have been plenty of Kung Fu moves used in winning MMA fights, but its never been billed as Tai Chi vs or LHBF vs, because the situation determines the response.
