And you do that with your painting, the oral story isn't necessary .. the actions and colors and hints of movement suggest so much mood! Yeah, carousels are very attractive for children, I can never count how many times I've been on this with my 2 kids, those were the days when they were little. My eldest hate the ride now, he is now 15 but my younger daughter now 6 loves it. Great historical research about carousels, good of you to share this informative content. It's a great story about the carousel horse. When we know the history of something, we see things with a new perspective on it. I like your technique of dropping the paint onto the wet paper and moving around for mixing. This card would be perfect for the birthday card. The details are so lovely, and the cloud layers look pretty too!💕💕

Oh yes, I like to put story with some of my art but wow, when I was doing the research for the carousel horse, it just became more magical! And with the colors and inspiration, hopefully people's emotion can be intrigued and stimulated! And ahhh, the blending of colors in the wet in wet slurry ... it's cathartic!! 💖🌸💖

You know I didn't really know how I would paint this but when the pink-purples started blending on the paper, the background just happened and the three colors just got all happy and floaty, if that makes sense - LOL! Wow... nostalgic !! I remember the days when i was afraid of those big electrical wheels and only liked small and safe hand drawn merry go rounds in local fairs...wooden horses were every kid's favourite! This colouring process amazes me!! The music is just sooo beautiful and never gonna age!! Tagore composed one famous Bengali song inspired my this song. The whole experience of watching this video gave me exactly the feeling this music conveys. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️and this end of 12 cards series is just perfect with this painting and music combination

I'm familiar with Tagore! He's the Indian poet who first called Korea "the land of the morning calm" and that is how Korea referred to itself until recent tech explosion ... and they are now "Dynamic Korea"! I like the poetic side of Korea, but Tagore has statues in a few cultural spots. One quotes the large portion of the poem about Korea being the land of calmness. WOW Cheryl, this one hit me straight in the heart...I am thrilled to learn so much about the carousel horse today...and this one has been a most magical one, your Auld Lang Sine was the best I've ever heard...I have to tell you, before I was born, my Dad ran a carousel in upstate New York, they dismantled it before I was born, probably the year I was born from what I remember...I have picture's of my Dad near the carousel with some family because we all spent summers together until I was about 13 years old...I know I have said so many of these cards were my favorites for different reasons...but I will have to take it all back now and make this my favorite...I also collected Carousel horses for many years, but gave them all away before moving to California as I did all my collectible items...this series of cards really should be made into a box and sold as copies...never sell off the originals unless of course you sell them to me....hugs from Hollywood...awaiting your return to the states!

What a fascinating history you lay claim too, even if it's only stories of your dad's carousel operations! Those were fantastic days, way back when, and I found tons of old carousels that make Disney World look like a sham! They really knew how to create the ornate back then and transport a child (and adult) to another world! You really ought to check out a video on the House on the Rock that shows the carousel I spoke of! Woooow! Too bad it's closed for the season -- blasted covid I'm sure -- but someday I'd love to swim Lake Michigan and go be charmed by that wild place! 🥰And I don't know much about the art world but really appreciate that tip on never selling the originals! I'd keep the rights anyway, but very very good tip! And 6-8 weeks and I'll be flying and dropping kisses as I fly over! 💖🌸💖🌸💖

Hello Cheryl, it's beautiful 😊🤗and I dare to say that the last cards feel even more like a series as the first ones. I had no idea of the history of the carousel or 'the little battle', crusaders training with perfume balls....this is amazing. For me it will stay that iconic thing associated with childhood, the up and down of the horses the music and the going round and round all together with ice cream, candy floss and other treats! We have a very old amusement park in Vienna called the 'Prater' with lots of rides and of course carousels and at the end of each school year my parents took me to that park and we had an afternoon of jolly and fun! Your horsey is lovely, directly from a fairy tale with glitter and sparkle and magical pinkish color. This is the perfect series Cheryl, you've outdone yourself and can be so proud!!!! Dear Erika, I had no idea how much work the series would be, but I'm intensely satisfied with the outcome, and I believe you're right when you say the last ones are more like a series or perhaps a series of their own! I think I've developed a kind of style, painting so many watercolors back to back in so little time. Appreciate your thoughts! And "candy floss"?! That brought a smile. In the states we call it "cotton candy" and use floss for picking stuff out of our teeth! LOL, language is such a fun medium of communication .. and sometimes hilarious miscommunications! Seems the carousel horse is evoking many memories! My first memory actually is sitting on the back of a horse in Washington DC and riding up and down. Mom says it's impossible I remember that, but we were only in DC once, there was a seatbelt, and I was screaming with delight!!! Big hugz back!! 💖💖🌸💖💖Cheryl

I don't know if it is because of the history of the carousel you told but, this Christmas card is, in my opinion, the most magical of all! Even the compositions and colors convey that feeling. It is truly worthy of being the last of the series, ended big 😍😍

Ah, dear Deirdre, these are so your colors, and to sneak it out as runner up to the Bethlehem painting that I knew you immediately connected is so warming! 💖💖It's also warming to finally be done as painting all 12 took a bit more time than I expected 😜BUT, I'm intensely happy with the results, and have to say I learned tons as a watercolorist, namely because I had to work on consistency throughout the series 🤩🤩 So sneak preview of what's to come is the tiger, and I'd suggest you doing one too as Lunar New Year is end of Jan or Feb 1. Year of the black tiger and people will be searching them out! Do you smell another DocuPaint? 😂😄👍🤗🥰❤️ Oh and I'm shabby on manners ... a very big warm thank you, dear friend 🥰🥰🥰

Wheee, finally done! Won't be doing that again unless I've already painted 10 ahead of time like you wisely did! And I've been planning a carousel horse for quite a while, but in acrylic where I can pile on the color and detail, but it felt right at the end of this series so will be repeating myself at least on theme down the road 😄 I'll now go through all the end screen links and link my Day 1 with yours so next year, we'll get some payoffs 🤩 And yes, happy! I really developed my style in this challenge . Thanks, partner! 🥰
