On the tutorials in the beginning it must be that your paper is on a slope. The colors all seem to run down when wet. Thats a great idea when painting clouds. Thank you for this tutorial!
@nvfineartstudio72962 жыл бұрын
Thank you GJ! Yes, I always paint at an angle. When you paint watercolor flat it is hard to control whether it goes up down left or right. If it's a slope, I always know it will go down, the greater the slope the faster it runs.

Very interesting! Very good! I would like to ask which card must be used to have these effects! I use a 100% cotton and 300 gr paper. Is that enough or do you need a heavier card? Sometimes when I try to remove color with a dry brush, I cannot remove it because the color has already dried! Thanks and congratulations because she is very good!
@nvfineartstudio72963 жыл бұрын
300gsm is a good thickness for paper up to 1/4 sheet size. But brand of the paper also matters. I'd recommend Saunders Waterford. Also, if you want to lift the paint, don't wait until it's dry. If it's dry, wet it with clean water, wait while water absorbed, and then carefully lift. If you use cheaper paper (Amazon's for example) lifting might damage it. Another important thing, staining colours are much harder to wash out from any paper.

After doing the clouds when you start working in reflections the bottom part of paper would have dried. Do you wet that part again or you just work very fast so that the portion of sky and water remain wet?
@nvfineartstudio72962 жыл бұрын
If you do an initial "pre-wet" before painting and then do you fist wash, it actually stays wet for at least half an hour (you need good cotton paper). It's enough time to get clouds done and get to the reflection. But if it dries, you have 2 options: 1. Paint on dry and soften the edges with a damp clean brush; 2. Re-wet the paper with a large brush, and then paint on wet. Completely different approach is to paint only the sky, when it's completely done paint the water. Hope this helps.

what brush are you using? nice video, very helpful thank you : D
Sometimes the clouds in my area are very pink. So pink with a Cerulean sky & so pretty its surreal. I always think I should paint them but so far have not. I thought it wouldn't be convincing enough.
@nvfineartstudio72962 жыл бұрын
So true! There are so many beautiful moments in nature....I always think if I paint this no one would believe me ☺️ but on the other maybe it's good when it looks unbelievable on paper, nowadays people seem to be more inclined to buy pieces like that.
do you pre-wet your paper before the first wash for the sky?
@nvfineartstudio72962 жыл бұрын
Hi Tom, it depends what I want to achieve, pre wetting will extend the damp paper time but will illuminate the possibly of hard edges, but sometimes I need them. Here is an example where I pre-wet kzbin.info/www/bejne/oF6tkK2frs1ofKc Here is an example where I don't pre-wet kzbin.info/www/bejne/laCkh4h5asysaLc

You forgot to mention whether to let the first layer dry or not.
@nvfineartstudio72963 жыл бұрын
Apologies, in theory, if you want soft edges it's best to paint wet on wet (do not dry first layer) if you want hard edges wet on dry (dry first layer). With clouds best to do wet on wet.
