Your speech is such a delight to listen to! Whenever I feel the need of 'something beautiful', I will click on any one of your wonderfully thought out demonstrations. Pure balm! So many demonstrations, which could teach, could instruct and could entertain are incomprehensible to me, as I do not know what 'whudduh' is! Thank you so much for your heart to teach. You are a gem of a lady. Susan

I do not recommend hot pressed paper except in certain mixed media situations. It is far harder to paint on and the pigments look less beautiful.

This video and the petal painting techniques have given me some great insights! Thank you for all of your work. I do have a question about the technique of flooding water to push the pigment to the edge, will this work with any color? Did you use the soft gray that you mix with yellow, pink and cerulean blue?
@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber

Yes I did. The pigment techique will work with any colors but you may get different results with different types of color and different brands.

Hello Michele, thank you so much for your very instructive, and uniquely opinionated (!) suggestions. I would like to learn as much as possible to be able to create very bright, very crisp, botanicals like yours. I notice that apart from your KZbin videos, you have tutorials on patreon, and on thinkable. Please let me know what platform is best to do a deep dive into your techniques for watercolours along with mixed media. Kind regards from Canada.

What a world! I just started watercolors during the start of “the apocalypse” and this was one of the very first sites I viewed. Here it is now November and I’m not sure the world is improving with another probable run on pasta and toilet paper, but I have learned so much over these few months about watercolor, being somewhat forced to stay home and focus. I am now hooked on watercolor. Hopefully I improve with time but am so enjoying the process! Thank you Michelle!

Another excellent and very useful video! While I was watching it I thought about a sample book my sister had to do more than half a century ago in her Home Economics sewing class. Each page had at least one type of hemming stitch, buttonhole, etc., and then notes on how to do it and what it was best used for. So, instead of just taking notes, I’m going to get those page protectors you mentioned that you use for swatching and try as best I can to copy each technique you demonstrate. I think it will reinforce what you are teaching us.

I usually brush a light wash of a particular colour first and then add dark shading of that same colour when it’s dry. I could definitely use masking fluid to mask off areas I want painted a different colour because there’s no way you can paint a light colour on top of a dark colour.

Hi. I’m thoroughly enjoying your lesson and learning so much. Thank you! I’m curious; are you aware that during your lesson; at about the end of the two overlapping pedals, there is an Ad that’s over 68 minutes long? They’ve begun placing “Ads” that are longer than videos. It makes it near impossible to support. I sincerely apologize. ...back to the lesson! Update: Just as you’re introducing pedals and leaves with tiny lines, an Ad for over 42 minutes began. I’m curious, still; if we don’t have time to watch these and skip them, does that negatively effect you? Again, I do apologize. ...back...

Hi, goodness, that's a long ad! KZbin show every user something different, because they individually target you. KZbinrs actually get paid for skipped ads because the companies are happy that you saw their brand for five seconds before skipping. So do skip, it does my channel no harm!

This isn't about art - well maybe colours. With your red hair and fair skin your orange lipstick doesn't go well. A darker more rust colour would be much better. No insult meant just as a red head myself I found that rust colour brings out features better. Your an attractive woman - show it off.

Hello, watercolors markers are the quickest way to achieve the edge around leaves. Just outline with the marker, soften the inner edge with water, blend into the center and drop in some color at the base. Love your channel, your ideas and how you present yourself. Watercolor markers are great for so many things to speed a painting along. I bet you could come up with more uses for them then I have in my paintings. I look forward to your video on this!!!

@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber Yes, we do! The brand I like is Castle Art Supplies. You also get one empty marker brush that you fill with water. Perfect for blending. Also a water bottle with a dropper is perfect for dropping in the center of leaves, petals, etc to get the paint to move to the edge.

Michele, my sister has marvelous, big patches of grape hyacinths. I'm having a very hard time figuring out how to paint them, especially because the background is a combination of light celery color and texture, and get dark green shadows. I've only found one example on YT that is far too impressionistic for me. Please help me create a beautiful gift of a painting of her beloved flowers.

Hi Margo, the purple parts will need to go on white paper, which can be tricky when painting a patch of them because if you layer them over the green they will look muddy. I would be inclined to do them more botanical style, plants on white background. Draw first, then do the purple parts, then add the greens.

@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber So I can pretty much give up any idea of doing washes. I'm cool with doing it "botanical" style, but was hoping for at least partial washes. The flowers are close to Cobalt blue, so it makes sense that there's enough pink in there to muddy the green.
