Watercolor Hair Tutorial For Beginners // Sleek Black Raven Hair // Peerless Watercolors

You may not know this but Caitie used to be a hairstylist and in this new, mini, watercolor hair series she gets to have fun mixing two of her passions.
This watercolor tutorial is the first video in what will be a 4 part beginners watercolor tutorial series.
This video will focus on using Peerless watercolors to paint a sleek, straight, black raven hairstyle.
Caitie will show you how to consider where the hair should have highlights and where the hair should be darker.
In this video, Caite uses Cobalt Blue and Black Hair from our Vintage Hair Color Collection but in the next videos more and more of that palette will be used.
As always our channel is about improving while being creative and being creative while improving so I would love to see some hairstyles with less than conventional color schemes!
We wanted to make this video series not only because Caitie LOVES being creative with hair (her own and others) but also because hair is one of the bigger hurdles when it comes to painting people or even your own characters.
We hope that love these shorter style tutorials but if you want to see longer versions of any of these hairstyle minisodes just let us know and Caitie would be more than happy to go into a deep dive on any one of them.
Hair is one of those things that you can either (like me) leave it as a blob of paint or you could spend hours getting it to look like you just plucked it off of someone’s head.

I've never tackled hair before, but this video has made it seem much easier to do. I love the way Miss Catie blocks it off by sections so highlighting makes more sense and I can see it better. I can't wait to get to the copper, curly hair like mine! Thank you for another great video!

That looks awesome, I love this technique and will definitely be using them. I ran out of Sakura Koi paints(most pans I use anyway) and I'll be doing a order of 26 sheets once I pick out colours I need! I'm very excited.

Excellent, thank you. From the roots at the nape even though they have shine lines what happens if you were to keep them dark? I guess I can just try it but if someone has any experience with making all roots non-shiny I'd like to not waste a paper.

Btw I had to stop video and when I returned to restart I’ve searched 5 times thru my subscriptions on 2 devices and your video is NOT listed now. Nothing is listed from 2-3 hrs past for me. It goes from 1 hr ago to 4 hrs ago so I think youtube has a problem. If not fixed and views are low you may want to re-upload it. It’s happened once before I noticed with a lady that uploads same time every night. Yeah I watch a lot of KZbin 🤣
