Just what the doctor ordered!! 🥰 I know I'm way out of my pay grade attempting a composition of a variety of tropical leaves with the bird of paradise and butterfly. My insecurity is in the leaves, btw, but I've been practicing them for several weeks now.

So very helpful! I've sketched with pencil since I was 14 and got rather good at it, but decided later in my life to give colour a try, so it's all new to me. I'm at the stage where my projects look fairly crummy, but thankfully, I have an eye for what I like and don't like about them (pretty much how I learn artistic things). Thank you for explaining things so well here, as I think I'll work toward making botanicals my specialty. Happy to subscribe to your channel, Anna, and looking forward to more good things from you. Your style pleases me the most of some of the art instructors on KZbin I've seen!

Interesting - I know exactly what you mean! I drew a lot and painted as a teenager but never really got into watercolors. Re-started as an adult - with a good understanding of what I liked but lacking technique in watercolors 😊 it comes with time and your background in drawing gives you a huge advantage since you understand the fundamentals already (values, saturation etc) Enjoy your watercolor journey!

Awww that’s awesome! I am now thinking of doing a gouache tropical class because tbh opaque greens work even better!!! I haven’t been to the Caribbean since the pandemic and I miss the sun and beautiful nature 😢 the shots of monstera were from my moms house lol this was the best I could do but hopefully next year will have some real references 😊

Anna, I really love your video but do you have an alternative to the expensive paints that you use? Are there any other paints that is a little less expensive to achieve maybe about the same colors
@AnnaBucciarelli Жыл бұрын
Absolutely! I always recommend Cotman range from W&N as they use the same pigments as their professional range simply less concentrated. You can invest in good quality student grade paints from professional brands {i am confident about W&N because I tested it thoroughly] and I even have a full botanical tutorial featuring Cotman only - as you will see the results are fully comparable as long as you use cotton paper kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKG2YoeobbN1jJY

Is Viridian can be substituted for windsor green blue shade?
@AnnaBucciarelli Жыл бұрын
Yes that would definitely work! Viridian is amazing for any sort of mixes so you can add yellow or blue to it to create a perfect match you like the most. Enjoy!
