I watched this one before and didn't comment but love that even artistically you are getting ready for your Italy trip. How fun!

I’m glad you’re doing regular watercolor vids. I am still learning that medium and loving it so far. Love your journal, too. It’s fun to make them with so many papers, isn’t it? I’m going to practice this way to get a better feel for all my wc paints.

oh im in the same boat as you right now with the printer situation, im leaning toward laser printer because i can do my watercolor on printed images and also i sometimes use alcohol markers, but this all requires thicker paper which most cant handle, but i have read that if the laser printer has a manual feed slot in the back you can fit thicker paper in there if printed sheets one at a time.. still looking into it!

Love the image you used for your journal. Rome is one place I would love to see.

I’ve always taped my watercolour paper down to an easel, that seems to stop the warping to a great degree. I wish I had some formal training in art. It would probably have saved me lots of money over the years. lol

Newbie here, if your paper warps, can you do something to fix it ? I love this idea of painting over images

I am terrible at using watercolour the traditional way, I tend to use it almost straight from the tube with just a bit a water...I love all my colours to be bold strong bright and pretty. I love the effect of doing it the way you have, but the few times I tried I failed so I go the cheats way and use hardly any water....have a WONDERFUL time in Italy ....when do you go?? Italy is so pretty, but I am sure it has changed from when I was there in the 80’s. Venice was by far my favourite....it was so very hot at the time too ! 🥵🥵

+Shaz I’ve already been. Venice was like walking into a dream. I was amazed. I also loved Rome. I would love to live there- even just for a few months.

JanelleNichol yes, Venice is like a dream, I went in ‘82, one of my sisters has been a few times and the last time she went a few years ago, she said it’s not the same anymore, the tourists are extreme levels and is just not the same as it used to be, so crowded and hard to get anywhere with the huge crowds. Glad I saw it when I did 😍

Hi Janelle, Love your channel! So many great tips and you are an amazing artist. Just wondering how you were able to print just the “outline” of the picture. Is there a setting on the printer? I was wondering about putting watercolor paper in my laser printer and I’m glad you mentioned be careful and stay under 90 lb. Thanks so much!
@JanelleNichol2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Since my laser printer is just black and white, I think it just automatically printed out that way BUT I may have increased the contrast also to get that effect.

I have a HP inkjet printer, but I can't afford ink for it anymore. So could I do a variety of stamped images using waterproof inkpads on watercolor paper? And what waterproof inkpads would you recommend? So I can see if I already have or not. Thanks again for everything. Becky B
@JanelleNichol5 жыл бұрын
+Becky B yes actually that is a great idea! Stazon would work or any solvent based ink similar to that could work. But I would just try different Inks & see.

Did you print on watercolor paper or regular printer paper? If you did print on watercolor paper, how did it go through your printer? Kinkos/FedEx said 140 lb. is too thick to run through.
@JanelleNichol4 жыл бұрын
I printed on 90lb watercolor or mixed media paper. I would never use that weight of paper for an actual painting but since this was a mixed media type of style and it was going through my printer.....this was as thick as I was willing to go. It worked ok but I was nervous I definitely wouldn’t make a habit of it. This was a laser printer as well.

Inkjet vs the toner based Laser Printers... Oh jeez Guess they each have their advantages eh?? I'd like one of each for various uses! But struggling with which to begin... In the creative flow... Hhhmmmn Ghaaack! OH you're off to Italy?? Really??! DO tell... ~X🇮🇹💨X~
