In this video, you will see the watercolor painting process of a round glass vase with branches.
You can say that painting a glass object in watercolor can be complicated - there are too many reflexes on it, aren't you? But, for me, it's the most exciting part of the painting process: The flow of the paintbrush strokes creates the form and texture of the glass vase - isn't that magic? As you can see in this video, I am painting right away with the brush, which allows me to feel free, rather than coloring within the lines. But the feeling of freedom goes together with uncertainty. I am always unsure about the painting's result. I push myself not to fear making mistakes. I am sure the sense of fear is the biggest enemy of the creative process. Do not think about the imperfections of your painting. Follow your creative flow - trust it! Practicing painting is only a pathway to finding your creative skills.
Watercolor is the easiest way to start practicing painting. By exploring the watercolor step-by-step, you will find how fascinating it is. Whatever you're going to paint - having the right tools makes a big difference; the quality of paper, brushes, and paints is crucial to a good result.
A good result of painting or drawing depends not only on the materials or techniques you have used - a sense of beauty and color harmony are valuable things too, but they are very subjective and depend on every concrete person.
Observing the art examples, collecting inspirational photos or books and art videos, and gazing at the beauty of nature are the things that might seem obvious - but have a vast impact on the creative path of an artist.

Art supplies:
- Watercolor paper: You can use cellulose paper or any artist-grade 100% cotton paper brand ( Canson is the cheapest one ),
- Watercolor sets: you can use any student or professional quality watercolor in pans or tubes - exp. ( Kureatake Gansai Tambi Set - good quality for a reasonable price ),
- Brushes: Not expensive and nice qualities are OOKU and Dainayw brands (synthetic and squirrel),
- Palette for mixing paint, a cup of water, tissues, additional watercolor paper for practicing, and color testing.

As a beginner I appreciate when the artist lists in the description the color used for the painting. I looked and did not see this information. Can you list the paint colors you used?

I usually mix colors on my palette based on the color of the subjects I am going to paint. By blending different hues and diluting them with water, I can achieve the desired value and tone of the color. 'Value' refers to the lightness or darkness of a color, while 'tone' refers to the cooler or warmer spectrum. To create the vase, I mixed ivory black with a small amount of purple color. Then I added more water to the mixture. For the flowers, I used magenta and purple hues with a little bit of ivory black. Best wishes in your art journey!
